After the Int. Musikkapellentreffen, the next musical event follows in the Brixental: from 8 to 11 June, Kirchberg will become the stage for choirs at the 8th Int. Gesangsvereinstreffen. But there are also a number of highlights surrounding the concert programme - such as the traditional Brixental Antlass Ride
Eleven associations and choirs with about 350 singers and accompanying persons from large parts of Austria, Germany and Switzerland are expected at this year's meeting of choir associations in Kirchberg. On the four-day programme from 8 to 11 June: singing and making music with like-minded people and celebrating the passion for singing. The musical repertoire of the participating associations covers the entire range of styles, from classical folk songs to current pop and rock pieces.
Highlight :Antlass Ride at the Opening of the Choral Society Meeting
The starting signal for the gathering of the choirs will be given by the craft and farmers' market in the centre of Kirchberg on Thursday, 8 June, at 11 am. At 1 p.m. the Kirchberg music band will play a concert in the village square before the traditional Brixen Valley Antlass Ride at 2 p.m., where tradition is writ large. 80 riders from Brixen, Kirchberg and Westendorf will ride high on horseback through the Brixen Valley in an impressive procession on Corpus Christi Day. Afterwards, the Aschau music band will give a stand-up concert.
Hiking is the singer's delight
On Friday, 9 June, the choirs and associations will set off at 10 a.m. on a guided hike to the mountain inns and alpine huts in the area, where they will sing to their hearts' content during a cosy get-together. From 5 to 6.30 p.m. the voices will then resound during performances at the village square of Kirchberg im Tal. Afterwards - from 8 p.m. to 9.15 p.m. - the programme of the 8th Int. Gesangsvereinstreffen will lead to the parish churches of Kirchberg and Brixen for the "Night of the Choirs". A local choir, the Tiroler Trachtlerchor Unterinntal, will also perform here.
Saturday will be a concert day
Saturday, 10 June, is all about singing. From 10 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., all eleven participating associations will perform at the festival on the village square, followed by the presentation of the commemorative gifts. (In case of bad weather, the concert will be held in the arena365)Musical entertainment will be provided by the Alpenrosenbuam.
