Risky descents and daring jumps: adrenaline junkies show off their skills away from the groomed slopes on 4 February.
The Open Faces 2023 on 4 February 2023, a tour stop of the Freeride World Qualifier in the Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau, offers an experience that is usually only available to the pros. The freeride zone on the Wiedersberger Horn in Alpbach is one of the best freeride areas in Tyrol. In 2023, the Open Faces Freeride Contest will once again attract numerous riders to the area, where they will collect important qualifying points for the Freeride World Tour.
Rapid descents through the deep snow terrain, which is up to 45 degrees steep, and action-packed jumps are on the programme. Starting at over 2,100 metres, it's all about impressing the judges with a smooth run, technique and a stylish line. There is a 1-star competition in combination with a 2-star junior competition. The competition starts at 10:00 am. The competition lasts until 14:00 and will be held on the Wiedersberger Horn near the mountain station of the new Hornbahn 2000 cable car. From the new "Top of Alpbachtal" observation tower at the mountain station, you not only have a fantastic 360° view of the surrounding mountains, but also a clear view of the spectacular downhill runs.
The jumps and rides of the participants will be broadcast on 4 February from 10:00 a.m. via a huge LED wall at the Wiedersberger Alm, in the finish area of the freeride course. Spectators can cheer on their favourites in an exuberant atmosphere with music. The event will be broadcast live on several TV channels.
