Fisser Blochziehen 2023 zog tausende Schaulustige an!

Updated 30.01.2023

Thelong wait came to an end on Sunday.

The start of the Fisser Blochziehen - which has been a UNESCO cultural heritage site since 2011 - traditionally took place on the last Sunday of January at 12.30 pm. The Schnallner and Mohrelen and the Bajatzl announced the start of the procession. The procession started at the Kulturhaus, where all the Fasnachters were assigned to their positions by the carter: the Bärentreiber and Mohrelen to the drawbar, the Oberhexe to the hut, the Schallner, farmers and other craftsmen to the crosspieces on the tree and the Schwoaftuifl - this year's leading figure - to the end of the tree. The Giggeler was responsible for jokes in the crowd, while the Bajatzl amazed the spectators with his acrobatics on the roofs of the houses. The music band of Fiss, which accompanied the procession through the streets, also created an exuberant atmosphere. At the first stop, the bear had to be caught to pull along. Then it was the turn of the Miasmann, who was also harnessed in front of the tree. The witches and the Schwoaftuifl tried to prevent him from moving on, but in vain: after the clash of good and evil and the accompanying colourful spectacle, the Bloch finally arrived at its destination - the village square "Fonnes".

Bloch auctioned off for 21,400 eurosOn arrival at thevillage square, the last highlight of the unique event awaited. The carnival ended with the auction of the Bloch. In keeping with the long-standing tradition, the mayor took on this task. "Part of the speciality of the Fisser Blochziehen is the subsequent auction. Each time, this raises a considerable amount of money for the carnival and for social projects," said Simon Schwendinger, the mayor of Fiss. For Casablanca Hotelsoftware GmbH from Schönwies, the Bloch was worth 21,400 euros, which they used to build a pine room in their branch. The next colourful spectacle as part of the Fisser Blochziehen is now scheduled for 2026. Anyone who wants to shorten the time until then is cordially invited to experience the Kinderblochziehen 2024.
