Erstis aufgepasst: Leistbare WG-Zimmer beim Projekt studentisches Wohnen der NHT

Dear first semester students,

congratulations on your start at the Leopold-Franzens-University of Innsbruck! We, the ÖH Uni Innsbruck, know that starting in a new environment can be exciting, but also challenging. Especially finding a place to live in Innsbruck, one of the most expensive residential districts in Austria, is incredibly difficult. That's why we are offering you a special and unique opportunity to make your flat search for a cosy and, above all, affordable home easier!

NEUE HEIMAT TIROL (NHT) is currently implementing a pilot project that focuses on affordable student housing. In the course of this project, the ÖH Uni Innsbruck was granted the exclusive right to propose rooms for shared flats exclusively to students of the Leopold Franzens University of Innsbruck. The 38 residential units with 96 rooms will be built in the Pradler Saggen, in a green, quiet environment and yet centrally located, with great walking, cycling and public transport connections. The completion of the residential complex is already making great strides, so that all tenants will be able to move in by 22 September 2023.

At the end of June, we received numerous applications in the first phase. These have already been forwarded to the NHT, and the relevant people will soon be informed by the NHT about their application status. In the second phase, we now want to ensure that first-semester students in particular have a fair chance of finding an affordable place to live. The second application period, exclusively for first-semester students, starts this Monday, 24.07.2023. So have your confirmation of enrolment ready and take advantage of this unique opportunity for a cosy and, above all, affordable home!

What do the flats look like? There are both 2-person and 3-person shared flats. All residents have their own room. Each flat-sharing community shares a common kitchen, bathroom/WC and an entrance hall. In the 3-person flatshares, the bathroom and WC are partly separate. All rooms are modernly furnished (first-time occupancy!) and attractively designed. As a special highlight, each flat has its own balcony with a unique view!(https://www.neueheimat.tirol/fileadmin/panorama/studentisches_wohnen/).

Where is the apartment complex located? The apartment complex is located at Kärntnerstraße 48 in the Pradler Saggen district, in the immediate vicinity of the Sill. The tram lines 2 and 5 as well as the bus line R with stops in the immediate vicinity and the direct connection to the Inn cycle path make it easy to reach the university locations or the city centre.

Where can I find information about the project and the accommodation units? You can find information about the project here: https://www.oehweb.at/wohnungsvergabe/

What does student housing cost? The usable living space of the individual flats ranges between 51 and 71 m² and the individual rooms between 10 and 16 m². The rent varies depending on the size of the room and averages an unbelievable 380 € (gross, warm, incl. household electricity)! Included in the rent are the management costs incl. household electricity, the furnishing of the rooms, the anteroom and the wet rooms, the equipped shared kitchen and the spacious shared balcony areas. In addition, the use of all the common areas of student housing is already included in the rent. These include the gym, relaxation lounge, roof terrace, library, breakfast area, bicycle storage room, etc.

How does the allocation process work? In a first step, you have to apply for a WG room at https://www.oehweb.at/wohnungsvergabe/für. The deadline for submitting your application is the end of the application period. The deadline for submitting your application (note: this time only first semester students can apply!) for a shared room starts on Monday, 24.07.2023. Once 150 applications have been received, but no later than 28.07.2023, the application form will automatically close and the allocation process will begin. The allocation of rooms will NOT be done on a "first come, first serve" basis, but according to an internal catalogue of criteria that takes into account a wide range of different aspects

All students of the LFU Innsbruck who start their studies at the beginning of the winter semester 2023/24 can apply for a place in the student housing complex. However, a confirmation of study is required for this! You must therefore already be enrolled for the coming semester!

What documents do I need? - ID document (identity card or passport) - Current confirmation of registration for your main place of residence - Confirmation of enrolment - Employment contract (if you are currently employed) - If necessary, other documents must be enclosed or can be requested

Where can I apply? Applications can only be submitted via the ÖH Innsbruck website(https://www.oehweb.at/wohnungsvergabe/). Applications by e-mail or other channels can unfortunately not be considered.

Is an application binding? After the application deadline, all applications will be reviewed. According to an internal criteria catalogue, points will be assigned to the applicants. Those applicants with the highest number of points will then be contacted promptly with an offer of accommodation. A binding, legally valid tenancy agreement with the NHT only comes into being once this offer of accommodation has been accepted and both parties have signed the corresponding tenancy agreement. You can therefore also refuse the offer of student accommodation if you decide otherwise.
