Elīna Garanča & Friends feiern mit den Opernstars der Zukunft Jubiläum in Kitzbühel

Updated 14.04.2023

14.04.2023 / In 2023, Kitzbühel will be particularly marked by culture. Klassik in den Alpen with opera star Elīna Garanča will take place for the 10th time. Since this week, the finalists of the Future Voices have also been determined, who will perform at Kitzbühel Klassik from 05 to 08 July 2023.

When Elīna Garanča gives her popular Klassik concert in the Alps in 2023, the special location will once again play a decisive role in addition to the highlights of her repertoire: Kitzbühel's impressive mountain backdrop offers a concert atmosphere that appeals to all the senses and magically attracts visitors. In addition to her performances at the Vienna State Opera, the Berlin Philharmonic and the Royal Opera House in London, this open-air concert has a particularly high status in her artistic season this year.

Emotional anniversary programmeKarelMark Chichon, once again musical director, has come up with something very special for the anniversary. One highlight will be "Vissi d'arte" from "Tosca" - one of Puccini's most challenging arias. Another highlight will be the appearance of the Italian soprano Eleonora Buratto - a rising star in the opera world, who this year will also be performing at the Teatro alla Scalla and the Metropolitan Opera in New York. Kammersängerin Elīna Garanča has also engaged tenor SeokJong Baek as a duet partner.

With numerous innovations and affectionate retrospectives that bring a reunion with particularly acclaimed arias and duets from concert history, Elīna Garanča is looking forward to the concert in Kitzbühel: "The energy that comes to you when you go on the open air stage is what makes us artists happy. Only when we see and feel the audience are our souls and voices free. I am very happy that we will see each other in Kitzbühel in the summer for our anniversary concert."

Organiser Hans Holzer also emphasises the economic dimension of the concert: "Klassik in den Alpen is the largest single cultural event in Tyrol. We make sure that a maximum of economic added value is generated directly in the event region. The concert will generate hundreds of additional overnight stays in the region by our concert-goers."

Future voices in the spotlightWorkingwith young singers was and is a great concern of Elīna Garanča. For this reason, she launched her young talent initiative ZukunftsStimmen in 2019.

This year, there will again be a special focus on young talent around Elīna Garanča's performance. This year's ZukunftsStimme is 24-year-old bass Felix Pacher, who will perform with the well-known chamber singer at Kitzbühel Klassik in Kitzbühel on 08 July. As part of Kitzbühel Klassik, the best up-and-coming singers will be on show on three evenings starting on Wednesday, even before the big gala concert on Saturday. Nadja Kaisereder, Stephanie Fritz, Leonie Paulus and Annina Wachter will perform free of charge in the romantic setting of Kitzbühel's Stadtpark.

Dr. Viktoria Veider-Walser, Managing Director of Kitzbühel Tourism, was on site at the finale of ZukunftsStimmen in Vienna and is enthusiastic about the skills of the young talents: "With Kitzbühel Klassik, a free concert series in the week of Klassik in den Alpen, we create a low-threshold cultural offer with the future stars of the opera scene. With Elīna Garanča's grand finale on Saturday, this week flanks a world-class concert series of which we can be justifiably proud."
