Seefeld Tuesday Market opens its stalls on 6 June
Summertime is market time and so the traditional Seefeld Tuesday Market will start its new season on 6 June 2023. Every Tuesday until the end of September, a wide range of local products will once again be on offer on the village square in Seefeld.
The offer ranges from regional culinary delights to handicrafts, jewellery, fashion and health products to everyday items such as fresh fruit and vegetables, bread, cheese and sausage. "The market is important for us local entrepreneurs and has been successfully built up over years," says Ferdinand Schot, who has been selling his bee products at the market for years and is currently in charge of the overall organisation.
Like him, many stallholders take part every year. "I love the cohesion and the family atmosphere here, and the small round market place with its uniform design," says Monika Praxmarer, who comes up from Roppen every week and likes to call the Seefeld market her second home.
The stallholders want to pass on this feeling of home to their customers. That's why you can find almost exclusively homemade and locally produced goods at the stalls. "Guests in particular like to take home something original from their holiday destination - and it can be sustainable," says Praxmarer, who hits the right nerve with her wooden products, the raw material for which she takes from her own garden.
Alois Haslwanter from Rasler is also committed to local production: "We do most of it ourselves, from smoking to distilling schnapps. Even the apricots come from the old tree on our farm in Reith." So anyone who buys bacon, sausages, liqueurs, herb mixtures or juices from him is holding a product that has really grown on Tyrol's high plateau.
The "Dienstagsmarktl", as the locals affectionately call it, always opens its stalls at 10 am. You can browse, feast or simply shop until 4 pm. And if you want to experience the magic of this small market, you can linger for a moment, watch the colourful hustle and bustle or have a chat with the stallholders.
