Das Beste kommt zum Schluss: End-of-Season Wintersport in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis

Updated 01.03.2023

Passionate skiers and snowboarders nod sagely: The last turns of the season are usually the most fantastic. Because the sun is finally smiling down on both ears again, the temperatures climb out of the freezer into the light - and after the fabulous firn skiing in the morning, there is still plenty of time for experiences and events in the mountain villages of Serfaus, Fiss and Ladis.

In Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis you can ski and snowboard fantastically on 130 out of 365 days! This is made possible by the altitude between 1,200 and 2,828 metres above sea level, the special microclimate between the Lech Valley, the Ötz Valley and the Engadine - and of course the most modern technology. The 68 lifts will transport skiers, snowboarders (but also non-skiers who want to enjoy the white winter world) uphill from 8 December 2022 to 16 April 2023. And down you go on no less than 214 kilometres of pistes. So the season is long on Tyrol's sunny balcony, but never boring! Here are the end-of-season podiums in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis:

Bronze: When the spring sun smiles, beware the euphoriaWhyare real ski checkers so keen on spring? It's simple! End-of-season skiing means blue skies, mild temperatures and less hustle and bustle on the slopes. At the beginning of April, the sun already has power. Enough to gently warm the south-facing slopes - and also the hearts of spring-happy winter sports enthusiasts. Now you can soak up the sun on the terraces even without a winter jacket, put on the first delicate spring tan and take a relaxed stroll through the villages after skiing or snowboarding. Spring is a season all of its own: far down in the Inn Valley the crocuses are already in bloom, on the high plateau of Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis spring is slowly moving in and up in the mountains it is still deepest winter. And on the slopes? The proverbial spring snow is forming there. But more about that below.

Silver: Plus degrees instead of a freezer. Après-ski is even more funWhoeverwants to chase away winter and welcome spring has the best cards in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis: on Wednesday evenings there is the Adventure Night "Fairy Tale" in Serfaus with spectacular and colourful live acts, including artists and acrobats from the world-famous Cirque du Soleil. At the Nightflow "Rock the Snow" in Fiss, cool dancers and acrobats rock the Nightflow Arena - and the snow sports instructors of the Fiss-Ladis Ski School catapult themselves bravely over high jumps into the starry night sky. The Nightflow takes place every Tuesday. Directly below the mighty Laudeck Castle, "Magic Ladis" attracts guests every Thursday with a cosy mix of late-winter evening atmosphere, traditional live entertainment and culinary delights.

Gold medal: Sun and snow enter into a tender love affair in springAsI said: The sun already has quite a bit of steam at the beginning of April. It rises earlier, sets later and already describes a much steeper arc than in December. The result: sunlight and gentle warmth cause the snow crystals to melt on the surface - and it's firn time! When the piste firns in spring, it forms its very own, butter-soft and magic-carpet-like base. Firn experts then know exactly when to be where in the ski area to find ideal conditions for the weightless dance through the firn. Only one thing must be clear to every spring ski fan: Every dream has an end. And firn skiing usually ends unerringly around midday. But then the T-shirt après-ski on one of the numerous sun terraces or the event programme in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis already begins.
