30. Dreiländergiro krönte die Girodays 2023 in Nauders

Updated 26.06.2023

With the 30th anniversary of the Dreiländergiro, the highlight of an intensive cycling week at the border triangle of Austria, Italy and Switzerland took place on Sunday. From 19 to 25 June 2023, three superlative cycling events lined up in Nauders - from the ultra event "Race Across The Alps" to the "Nightrace Nauders" and the Dreiländergiro. Together, the events again took place under the name Girodays. The Austrian Daniela Traxl-Pintarelli and Lukas Koller from Germany were able to crown their strong performances on the long distance with victory.

Once again, more than 5,000 hobby bikers, professional athletes and accompanying persons from over 40 nations came to the biking destination on the Reschenpass to compete with each other and to share their passion for road biking during the popular Girodays.

"Over the years, the Girodays have established themselves as a unique series of events whose appeal reaches far beyond the border triangle. The past few days have once again shown how popular the Girodays are with athletes from all over the world and that the region offers ideal conditions for such a series of events. Passion, quality and tradition - that's what the Girodays stand for," said the event trio Manuel Baldauf (Managing Director TVB Tiroler Oberland), Kurt Folie (OC Chief of the Race Across The Alps) and Viktoria Mall (OC Chief of the Dreiländergiro).

Dreiländergiro celebrates 30th anniversary

An intensive week of cycling culminated in the Dreiländergiro on 25 June 2023, which is now one of the biggest mass sporting events in Europe. The sold-out anniversary edition of the classic event took around 3,000 participants from over 40 nations over 168 or 120 kilometres through Austria, Italy and Switzerland. In addition to the goose bumps at the start and finish, the crossing of the Stilfserjoch at 2,757 metres above sea level was the highlight of the "Stelvio Engadin" (168 kilometres) and "Stelvio Vinschgau" (120 kilometres) routes. Everywhere along the route, many spectators created a gripping atmosphere. Especially at the prominent climbs, the cyclists were loudly motivated to give their all once again. The victory at the anniversary giro on the "Stelvio Engadin" course went to Daniela Traxl-Pintarelli from Austria (5:45:56.10) and Koller Lukas from Germany (5:16:51.90). The two Austrians Belinda Holzer (4:24:23.52) and Matthias Gusner (3:47:17.09) won the race on the "Stelvio Vinschgau" course.

The supporting programme was also marked by the anniversary. With an anniversary celebration, street food festival, bike trial show acts and a performance by the Nauders music band, the public was offered the best entertainment. A charity raffle and the fact that the event was organised as a green event reflected the social and sustainable idea of the Giro.
