Zwillingsbrüder aus Österreich nehmen Kenianer in die Mitte beim Schlickeralmlauf

Updated 03.09.2022

First and third place at the Schlickeralmlauf goes to the Innerhofer brothers from Pinzgau. Only Isaac Kosgei is still in between. In the women's race Karin Freitag from Austria runs the fastest time of the day.

The 33rd edition of the Schlickeralmlauf in Telfes in the Stubaital once again has something special to offer. For the first time four running competitions were held on one day and in the main run twin brothers from the Pinzgau shared the podium. Manuel and Hans-Peter Innerhofer take first and third place and take Isaac Kosgei from Kenya in their midst. In the women's race, victory also goes to Austria. Karin Freitag runs to the finish at the Kreuzjoch in the Schlick 2000 hiking centre in 1:11:55 hours ahead of Sarah Kistner and Simone Raatz, both from Germany.

For the first time this year, the Schlickeralm Run, the Kids' Run, the Charity Run and the Telfer Wiesen Run were all held on the same day. So once again it was "Everything is running!" on Saturday, 3 September in Telfes in the Stubaital.

"I am an enthusiastic mountain runner and have been doing this very intensively for several years now. For me, the routes have to be challenging, have an attractive course and also take place in beautiful scenery. And the Schlickeralm run is definitely one of them," explains Karin Freitag after her victorious run at the finish on the Kreuzjoch. With a time of 1:11:55 hours, she ran the fastest time of the day in the women's category and thus also took first place in the W40 class. Her strongest competitors, Sarah Kistner (1:14:36 hrs) and Simone Raatz (1:18:00 hrs) from Germany ran into second and third place in the overall standings. Kistner (W20) as well as Raatz (W45), who became Masters World Champion in the Stubaital last year, finished first in their age groups, just like Freitag.

In the men's race, the brothers Manuel and Hans-Peter Innerhofer as well as Isaac Kosgei ran ahead from the start and pulled away at the top. In the end, Manuel Innerhofer was able to leave Kosgei behind on the 11 km long course with 1,100 metres of altitude difference and crossed the finish line with a sensational time under one hour (59:28 min.). "I decided to take part at short notice and so I am all the more pleased that I was able to win here today in one of the most beautiful mountain runs in the Alps," admits the winner from Salzburg's Pinzgau region. His twin brother Hans-Peter (1:01:37 hrs), on the other hand, could not catch up with Isaac Kosgei (1:11:08 hrs) and so the Kenyan managed to slip in between them with second place in the overall standings.

On the short course (7.5 km, 786 hm) Matthias Schiechtl won the men's race with a time of 48:18 minutes and Ekaterina Soboleva with a time of 58:07 minutes.

After the Schlickeralm run, the children's races and the charity run were held in the centre of Telfes in the afternoon. Even though the focus was on fun, participation and being there, more than 80 children ventured out onto the courses in the rain and showed that the next generation of runners is already in the starting blocks.
