Autumn is the time of harvest and the time of enjoyment, the time of festivals and rural traditions. True to this motto, culinary delights, regional products and Zillertal customs play the main roles at the "Zillertal Bauernherbst", the new series of events in the Mayrhofen-Hippach holiday region. Every Friday from 23 September to 14 October, the centre of Mayrhofen is transformed into a colourful marketplace. In addition, local innkeepers offer special dishes with a regional flavour and a culinary fun trail invites you on a culinary voyage of discovery to collect points and win attractive prizes.
"The idea behind the Zillertal Harvest Festival is to strengthen local businesses in the region and focus on the genuine and unadulterated," explains Andreas Lackner, Managing Director of the Mayrhofen-Hippach Tourism Association.
The farmers' market, which takes place every Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the centre of Mayrhofen, is an essential part of the "Zillertaler Bauernherbst". Colourful market stalls filled with seasonal fruit, vegetables and homemade products of all kinds await visitors. Elaborate handicrafts and lovingly designed gift ideas are also on offer. Local music groups play unplugged - without amplification - in several squares. And for the small or large appetite in between, exhibitors offer freshly prepared delicacies or invite you to try one or two Zillertal specialities.
