Everyone is allowed to write their own personal casual summer fairy tale here. And how does every gripping story begin? With the first (hiking) step - which is exactly how the Mayrhofner Bergbahnen have opened their new chapter. A promising one, because Mountopolis is new, but already legendary. It is proud of its deep roots, its striking heights and the far-sightedness that allows it to be cosmopolitan, close to home and cosy at the same time.
PENKEN & AHORN - TWO MOUNTAINS, ONE MISSION!
It is a duo that has it all. The Penken and the Ahorn, each incredibly good in its own right. Together spectacular, united in Mountopolis simply unbeatable. They are what it takes for a perfect active holiday in summer. Here, adventure lovers and those seeking relaxation alike will find a wide variety of options for being active in the fresh mountain air, right in the middle of the alpine backdrop of the Zillertal. The leisure activities on offer show guests and local excursionists in a thrilling way that there is absolutely no room for boredom on the wide alpine pastures, the biking routes and hiking trails of the Penken and the Ahorn. In Mountopolis, fun and adventure reign!
ON A PAR WITH EAGLE & CO. - THE AHORN MAKES IT POSSIBLE!
What can you do to get started? List the kilometres of hiking trails and mountain tours in a flash? But honestly, who hikes every single metre? The Ahornbahn cable car in the Zillertal takes nature-loving hiking fans and families up to the Ahorn plateau in just 6.5 minutes and right into the fun. Whether it's a challenging tour of the summit, enjoying the view at one of the feel-good spots to relax - in Mountopolis there is no either, there is always only an AND. Because that's what connects people with nature, emotions with experience. Early in the morning on a summit? No problem, with the BergSteiger gondola you can reach lofty heights as early as 7:30 am. Or even awake earlier? Every Tuesday from July to mid-September, those interested can take the SonnenAufgangsGondel up to the Ahorn before dawn. Instead of an early bird, more of a night owl? The mystical natural spectacle of the sunset can be experienced - new this summer - thanks to the Sunset Gondola every Friday evening.
You see, free spirits and wild "birds" feel at home all day long at the Ahorn. So much so, in fact, that the AdlerBühne Ahorn , Europe's highest bird of prey station at 2,000 metres, has been around for more than 10 years. Eagles, buzzards, eagle owls and the like can be marvelled at during the one-hour bird-of-prey show every day at 2 pm (except Tuesdays). in 2021, another programme highlight was created with the Falconer's Oasis around the Filzen reservoir with the predicate: absolutely worth seeing and experiencing!
By the way: Mountain AND water also belong together at Ahorn. The AhornSee and AhornBachl water oases are truly refreshing. Play, splash, romp or simply cool your feet after a hike - a rest here is always tangy. A special place of enjoyment also awaits you at the Ahornbahn mountain station. What would Mountopolis be without themed trails? Possibly boring, which is why the Ahorn is not stingy with its charm here either. The GenussRundWeg, which is suitable for prams, runs over the entire Ahorn plateau and demonstrates foresight with its four viewing platforms: Adlerblick, Zillertal, Stilluptal and Filzenalm . Those who want to surpass themselves not only mentally but also athletically on the Ahorn can do so on the Filzenkogel hiking trail. The well-maintained trail leads to the summit experience at 2,227 metres with a panoramic view of the mighty Zillertal Alps. Impressive and inspiring at the same time!
WHERE THE EYES MAKE EARS - ON THE PENKEN WITH A HOT PROGRAMME INTO THE MOUNTAIN SUMMER!
The Penken in the Zillertal stands for action in all its facets. Here, the pulse beats faster and thrill seekers will find what they are looking for. The FunSportStation with motor skills course, e-trial course, BergRoller and the mountain playground offers the right dose of adrenaline for all ages. Young and old can train their dexterity, balance and coordination in the FunSportStation . Young mountain enthusiasts will enjoy the water playground and can surpass themselves in Virginia's tree house on the trail of mascot AlbertAdler and the climbing tower.
Another novelty that will ensure mountain excitementon the Penken in summer 2022 is the Music Island on the Penken. With events and musical live acts in the Penken reservoir, the Music Island on the Penken promises pleasure for the eyes and ears. Surrounded by one of the most beautiful panoramas of the Zillertal mountains, traditional sounds and cool beats invite you to groove along.
The thermals on the Penken are top notch, making it a magnet for the international paragliding scene. From two launch sites, you can take to the skies above Mountopolis, including impressive bird's-eye views. If, on the other hand, you want to go vertical, the Knorren climbing area is the place to be. The KnorrenNadel and Steinbock climbing routes are simply perfect for starting this sport in the mountain summer of 2022. Climbing sets are available for hire for a fee at the FunSportStation. Mountain bikers also get their money's worth on the Penken, whether on an e-bike, under their own power or quite comfortably with bike transport by gondola. Several routes in various degrees of difficulty for professionals and those who want to become professionals motivate and awaken the desire. Pleasure biking with a panoramic view or speed in up- & downhill mode until your calves burn? Bike happiness looks different for everyone!
But the Penken also has its very gentle side: enjoyable and cosy with the numerous refreshment stops along the routes and trails, family-friendly with trails such as the PanoramaRundWeg , which is suitable for prams, with its panoramic stops with views of the Mayrhofner mountains. There is a lot to discover: The fun sportsmen on their BergRoller scooters, the mountain bikers, climbers and paragliders who fit perfectly into the image of Mountopolis.

THE MAYRHOFNER MOUNTAIN RAILWAYS
The Mayrhofner Bergbahnen are among the 19 Tyrolean summer mountain railways and have been tested according to strict criteria and awarded the seal of quality "Best Austrian Summer Mountain Railway" by the Association of Cable Railways of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce: DerAhorn with the specialisation "Enjoyment" and "Family" as well as Penken with "Adventure". The Ahornbahn is the largest reversible aerial tramway in Austria and takes visitors up to 2,000 metres in less than 7 minutes. With its huge panoramic glass fronts, it offers a unique view of Mayrhofen and the surrounding mountains. The ultra-modern 3S Penkenbahn, also with panoramic windows and additional WLAN in the 33 gondolas, takes you directly from the town centre to an altitude of almost 1,800 metres in just 8.2 minutes.
