Voller Erfolg für die 11. Auflage der achensee.literatour

Updated 11.05.2022

At the annual festival in the Achensee region, which took place from 05 to 08 May 2022, bestselling authors, book prize winners and new writing talents once again took visitors on a journey into the world of literature.

At the start of this year's "achensee.literatour", which took place on Thursday at the Hotel Entners am See in Pertisau, there was a reunion with the well-known writer couple Monika Helfer and Michael Köhlmeier, who were already guests at Lake Achensee in the early years of the literature festival. Helfer read from her current novel "Löwenherz" (Lionheart), which is an intimate portrait of her own "family ties", with which she has succeeded in creating "a literary marvel" (profil). Köhlmeier opened his latest book, "Matou", which is almost a thousand pages long. In it, an eloquent tomcat roams across world history and contemplates the great questions of humanity. "Broken over a few mirrors, the cat probably also stands for myself," Köhlmeier revealed.

On the first evening of the "achensee.literatour", this year's HAYMON achensee.literatour scholarship was also awarded, to Austrian author Angela Lehner. She read from her novel "2001", which is a book about friendship and the "outcasts in the Austrian province", at the Posthotel in Achenkirch on Friday afternoon. On Friday evening, Bernhard Aichner, successful Tyrolean author and patron of the "achensee.literatour", invited guests to the Fischergut in Pertisau. In the time-honoured farmhouse he presented his current crime novel "Brennweite" and was musically accompanied by Frajo Köhle. The book is the third volume about photographer David Bronski, who once again sets out to find the truth after mysterious events in a Tyrolean monastery.

On Saturday, there was reading on the mountain and in the valley, and the day was also firmly in women's hands. Jessica Lind, former achensee.literatour scholarship holder, presented her debut novel "Mama" at the Erfurter Hütte, 1,834 metres above sea level, which begins as a classic relationship story but unfolds a subtle horror page by page. Tatjana Scheel, who wrote her first short story at the age of seven, performed passages from her debut novel "Vielleicht habe ich dich nur erfunden" at the Seehotel Einwaller in Pertisau on Saturday afternoon. On Saturday evening, the Tyrolean author Judith W. Taschler and the young Graz-based Marie Gamillscheg read from their current novels "Über Carl reden wir morgen" and "Aufruhr der Meerestiere" at the Alter Widum in Achenkirch.

The already traditional conclusion on Sunday morning was once again the mystery hike along the Dien-Mut-Weg in Pertisau. The author Manfred Baumann, who usually explores the festival city of Salzburg in a murderous way, took interested literature and crime fans on an exciting hike to the "Rodlhütte" this time with a short crime novel written especially for the trail.

"We are very pleased that we were once again able to offer festival guests a broad spectrum of literature in a special ambience," summed up Martin Tschoner, Managing Director of Achensee Tourismus, after the four-day literary event. "I believe that this is exactly what makes the 'achensee.literatour' so successful: top-class authors who open their books at selected places between the mountain and the lake, which makes it possible for the audience to enjoy culture and nature in one."

This year's "achensee.literatour" was hosted for the second time by Theodora Bauer, herself an author, former scholarship holder and presenter of the programme "literaTOUR" on ServusTV.
