Enjoyment of nature and sporting diversity in the Stubai Alps
Enjoying the fresh mountain air in the sunshine at warm temperatures - that is one of the moments of happiness one longs for on a summer holiday in the Alps. And that is exactly what you find in the Stubaital near the Tyrolean capital Innsbruck. The Stubai Glacier Valley with its four recreational areas is the right address for all active nature lovers, not only in winter. The Stubai Glacier, the Schlick 2000, the Elferbahnen Neustift, the Serlesbahnen Mieders as well as the valley itself make summer a real highlight thanks to diverse hiking routes, exciting excursion destinations and numerous special features.
For hiking enthusiasts, the Stubaital is a true paradise: A wide variety of hiking trails of all levels of difficulty lead through the numerous highlights of the fascinating mountain world. Whether down in the valley or high up surrounded by the impressive panorama in the alpine terrain, on dreamlike hiking tours, adventurous family trails or challenging routes - thanks to the diversity of the Stubaital, everyone will find what they are looking for.
Glacier adventure at 3,000 metres
The Stubai Glacier offers numerous adventurous experiences for young and old, not only in winter but also in summer. The modern 3S Eisgratbahn takes families, hikers, mountaineers and excursionists to the Stubai Glacier World at 2,900 metres. There, a high-alpine experience opens up to them, ranging from easy high-altitude hikes to challenging summit and glacier tours. For example, the glacier trail leads from the Fernau middle station past moraines and the colourful moor, the dazzling Fernau reservoir and the fascinating ice grotto to the Eisgrat mountain station.
Holidaymakers can experience the highest point of the glacier on the summit platformTOPOF TYROL (3,210 metres), which offers a fascinating 360-degree panoramic view. Glacier Yoga takes place in this unique ambience on 17 July . Here, in the midst of the glacier world, combined with the peace and power of the mountains, special yoga experiences are guaranteed.
The Eisgrat restaurant with barbecue and Tyrolean cuisine made from regional products as well as the Dresdner Hütte are available for your physical well-being and a well-deserved refreshment during the adventure programme.
Family fun in the Schlick 2000
A little lower down in the Stubai, fun and variety await the whole family: thanks to numerous routes of all levels of difficulty, the Schlick 2000 high valley is a hiking Eldorado for young and old. It all starts at the Kreuzjoch mountain station, from where holidaymakers can embark on an interactive journey through nature on the family-friendly nature trail. From the Schlickeralm, the trail continues via the Abendweide to the Panoramasee and then downhill along the Scheibenweg. The name of the route reveals its special feature, which not only attracts children: visitors can insert a wooden disc into a groove at the edge of the path and follow it as it rolls down. The tree house trail is the crowning glory of an exciting day of hiking. Seven different tree houses along the trail hide numerous highlights for children with a rope slide, a suspension bridge and a treasure hunt. And if that's not enough, you can look forward to something very special in August: a sunrise ride. Every Saturday, the mountain railway takes early risers up to over 2,000 metres, from where they can enjoy a fascinating natural spectacle of sunrise and a panoramic view of the mountain world. The small breakfast in the Panorama Restaurant Kreuzjoch, the yoga sun salutation on the terrace of the restaurant or a sunrise tandem flight, which can be booked, also provide that certain "extra" pleasure.
Experience hiking with the Elferbahnen Neustift
If you want to experience a sunset in the mountains after the sunrise, the Elferbahnen are just the right place. Here, once a week in summer, you have the opportunity to be part of a sunset ride and thus experience dusk in the Stubaital in a special way. During the day, on the other hand, pure action awaits all sports enthusiasts on the Elfer, the "sports mountain" of the Stubaital: paragliding, biking as well as climbing possibilities, but also impressive hikes around the stone massif of the Elfer towers provide a delightful change. For all inquisitive naturalists, the almost seven-kilometre-long combination of walking and time trails with its three different thematic areas reveals interesting phenomena. Visitors to the Sun Age, Flower Age and Stone Age trails learn exciting and interesting facts about the units of time, the cycle of alpine fauna and the changes and ageing of the mountain world on their hike. The starting point for these hikes is the largest walk-in sundial in the Alpine region, which is enthroned on the Elfer.
Hiking experience at the foot of the Serles
The Serles cable cars in Mieders offer a world of adventure and recreation for the whole family. At the foot of the Serles, the high altar of Tyrol, hiking and outdoor fans as well as families and those looking for relaxation get their money's worth. The extensive network of trails leads through the dreamlike nature. At the mountain station, the Serlespark is the perfect place for an active day with the whole family. Play and marvel at the white-water course, take a ride on the raft or enjoy the view and tranquillity at the crystal-clear lakes: Everyone will find their perfect mountain experience here. On the way to the Maria Waldrast monastery, the Koppeneck, Karwendelblick and Serlesblick viewing platforms also offer unique views of the surrounding Tyrolean mountains. If you don't want to explore the landscape on foot, you can board the Serles train directly at the Serlespark. This takes visitors to the Maria Waldrast monastery and back several times a day. To round off the day, holidaymakers can whizz down into the valley on the summer toboggan run, which is just over three kilometres long. But that's not all: the summer offer is extended even further with the summer hiking night on 26 July.
Unique natural spectacle in the valley
The fascination of the Stubai is not only felt high up in the mountains. The valley also has a lot to offer: With the WildeWasserWeg, visitors get to know a real natural jewel. On three stages, unique alpine sites and the different manifestations of water can be experienced. The hike leads along the Grawa waterfall and through the spectacular Ruetz Katarakt gorge. These special places can also be visited as part of the summer hiking nights along the WildeWasserWeg.
A service that completes the holiday happiness in the Stubaital is the Stubai Super Card, which includes free rides on the buses and mountain railways. Children under ten years of age can use three of the four mountain railways for free when accompanied by a paying parent.
