The Inntaler Höhenweg (Inn Valley High Altitude Trail) is nestled in the rugged rocks of the Tux Pre-Alps, in the midst of untouched mountain landscapes. This high-altitude hiking trail, in one of the most beautiful areas of the Alpine region, offers everything a hiker's heart desires in six days, on mostly moderately difficult stages. In our fast-moving times, it leaves a lasting impression on every hiker. The six huts on the high-altitude trail are also responsible for this. They quickly make you forget the exertions of the hiking route with culinary regional delicacies. Some people have already called the Höhenweg a 'culinary pleasure trail'. The numerous peaks and mountains on this high-altitude trail, which are as constant as they are imposing, are also characteristic. As a trail to get to know the Tyrolean mountains, the Inntaler Höhenweg stands out due to its location and its manageable, well-travelled paths.

The Inntaler Höhenweg starts in Innsbruck-Igls and leads either with the ascent of the Patscherkofel cable car or the ascent via Heiligwasser into the Tux Pre-Alps. Arriving at the Patscherkofel refuge (1,970 m), you first reach Boscheben and then the first and highest hut at 2,610 m, the Glungezerhütte, via the Zirbenweg in the Patscherkofel-Zirmweg landscape conservation area. If you have enough reserves left, you should definitely make the short ascent to the Sonnenspitze (2,639 m) or to the Glungezer (2,677 m), which reward you with a magnificent panoramic view. After a restful night, the hike from the Glungezerhütte continues on a mostly ascent-free, marked ridge, partly over boulder rock, southwards over the panoramic "seven Tuxer summits". One summit after the other with views in all four directions. We continue into the Wattener Lizum past many marmots, cows and mountain pigs to the second stop, the Lizumer Hütte (2,019 m). It is located in the area of the "Lizum Walchen" army training area. The two young tenants Lukas and Tobias place a lot of emphasis on personality and regional quality.

The next day, old stone pine forests below the Torspitze and the Eiskarspitze are explored at the beginning, before heading up to the Grafennsjoch (2,465 m). If you want to, you can climb the Hippoldspitze (2,642 m), otherwise it's a relaxed walk along the Weerbach to the Grafennsalm and through shady stone pine forests to the modern Weidener Hütte (1,799 m) with the new tenants Jessica and Lukas.

After a hearty breakfast, the route leads from the Weidener Hütte via the Central Alpine Trail along the Nafingbach stream and lake into the valley, via the Nafingalm to the sixth pass, the Nurpensjoch. Another highlight of the Inntaler Höhenweg follows, the Rastkogel (2,762m), which almost makes you forget all the exertions of the last few days with its impressive panoramic view of the Zillertal mountains. In the midst of the descent over the ridge, two small mountain lakes flash an outrageous blue. We continue to the penultimate yoke, the Sidanjoch (2,127m) and the Rastkogelhütte (2,124 m). From the Rastkogelhütte, the descent is easy to the Pfundsalm-Mittelleger (1,832 m), along the Finsingbach stream out of the valley to Hochfügen (1,470 m) and to the last yoke, the Loassattel (1,675 m). As you continue, you soon have a view of the Kellerjochhütte (2,237 m). It offers an incomparable place to sleep on the "Kellner", the local mountain of Schwaz. The two tenants, Claudia and Christian, also offer excellent regional quality for hungry guests. The six-day tour can be ended in a maximally relaxed manner with a detour to the worthwhile summit chapel on the Kellerjoch (2,344 m) with a dreamlike view of the Karwendel mountains. Accompanied by the view of the Inn Valley, you can look back on one or two of the ascents. The best hiking time is from the end of June to the beginning of October, and it is advisable to make a convenient online reservation at all the huts.

The route can also be followed in reverse order. This is especially worthwhile for beginners who have no experience with high-altitude hiking trails. From all huts, a descent to the valley is possible with the help of public transport or mountain railways if the weather is not as good as hoped.
