The cooperation between Tirol Tourist Board and the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) has existed for over 30 years. In the run-up to the World Cup opener in Sölden, a "Letter of Intent" (LOI) has now been signed, which guarantees the presentation of the "Tirol" brand at the national teams and the events organised by the ÖSV in Tirol until 2028. The corresponding detailed agreement on this is to be available at the end of the year.
"The cooperation with the ÖSV has contributed to a great extent to the fact that our province is now considered the number one sports province in the Alps. I am pleased that this successful cooperation for the coming years until 2028 could be agreed in time for the first World Cup races this weekend in Sölden," Tyrol's Governor Günther Platter emphasised.
"We are thus making a clear commitment to Tyrol as a sporting region and to a partnership that we have often envied on the one hand and that we want to continue and develop positively with a great deal of innovative strength and sporting spirit on the other," says Provincial Sports Councillor and Deputy Provincial Governor Josef Geisler.
ÖSV President Roswitha Stadlober also wants to start the next stage of the successful partnership with this élan: "The timing for the extension could not have been better. A few days before the start of the World Cup in Tyrol and at the beginning of the coming World Cup winter - these are very good omens to get off to a flying start! Together we are very motivated to put new, contemporary and creative plans into action."
ÖSV Secretary General Christian Scherer also expresses his thanks for the successful setting of the course for the future: "The importance and also the charisma of our joint partnership, which began on the initiative of Peter Schröcksnadel more than 30 years ago, was decisive in that in talks with the representatives of the Tyrol it very quickly became clear to both sides that they wanted to continue this proven partnership up to and including the 2027/28 season."
The new cooperation agreement with a term of 5 years regulates the presentation of the Tyrolean brand, but also secures the province rights packages for events and races, especially for the World Cup events in Tyrol
The province also intends to continue and further develop the "Tirol Berg" as a communication platform established since 2001 in the context of Ski World Championships at home and abroad.
The present LOI, which regulates the cornerstones of the cooperation, must now be worked out between the ÖSV and the Tirol Tourist Board, emphasises Mario Gerber as chairman of the Tyrol Tourism Board: "We have set ourselves the goal of having the implementation of the outlined subject areas recorded in a detailed cooperation agreement by the end of the year." This aspect is also emphasised by Karin Seiler, Managing Director of the Tyrol Tourist Board: "The fundamental decision supported by the Tyrol lays the foundation for the perception of the 'Tyrol' brand in winter sports. In partnership on an equal footing with the ÖSV, we must now focus on making even better use of this successful positioning in top-class sport to address potential holiday guests"
