Tirol Touristica 2022 geht an Peter Fankhauser und Viktoria Fahringer

Updated 24.05.2022

With the Tirol Touristica, the Tirol Tourist Board has been awarding prizes for outstanding tourism achievements for more than 25 years. This year, the award was relaunched to honour concepts that pay particular attention to the tourism strategy "The Tyrolean Way" and thus place a strong focus on sustainability. The winner of this first edition is Peter Fankhauser (Guat'z Essen/Stumm im Zillertal), the newly created young talent award goes to Viktoria Fahringer (Viktorias Home/Kufstein). The awards will be presented at the Tyrolean Tourism Forum on 24 May.

More than 30 initiatives and projects were submitted for the Tirol Touristica this year. "For me, this is clear proof that sustainability is already firmly anchored in Tyrolean tourism and is a key to success," Tyrol's Governor and Tourism Officer Günther Platter is pleased to say.

"With the Tirol Touristica we not only want to award successful initiatives. The winning projects are also an inspiration to which the industry can orient itself," adds Tirol Tourist Board Managing Director Karin Seiler.

With Peter Fankhauser (Restaurant Guat'z Essen in Stumm in the Zillertal), the main prize goes to someone for whom sustainability and the highest quality go hand in hand. With his permaculture garden, he has launched a concept that is unique in the Alps: 80 per cent of his products come from his own garden, the rest from the region. In addition, Fankhauser cooks at the highest level; his business has been decorated with three toques.

The winner of the newly created young chef award has also been crowned with a toque. Viktoria Fahringer from Kufstein took over her parents' hotel three years ago - when she was just 20 years old. The "Tiroler Hof" thus became the boutique hotel "Viktorias Home". Fahringer not only passes on her passion for cooking creative dishes to pupils and students. In "Victoria's Cookery School", amateur cooks can learn from the award-winning restaurateur.

The two award winners will be honoured this evening at the Tyrolean Tourism Forum at Congresspark Igls.

About the Tirol Touristica

Since 1996 the Tirol Tourist Board has regularly honoured innovations in Tyrolean tourism with the Tirol Touristica. With the new orientation, the focus is now even more on sustainability in its ecological, economic and social dimensions. The basis for this is the further developed tourism strategy "The Tyrolean Way", which was presented in 2021. The Tirol Touristica is awarded on the basis of a jury and a public evaluation. The winners are awarded the so-called "seedlings" by the Tyrolean artist Alois Schild, which are provided by Hypo Tirol Bank. The long-standing partner also donates the Young Talent Award, which is endowed with 2,000 euros.
