Tirol CleanUP Days – das Projekt zum Schutz der Natur macht auch in der Region Innsbruck halt

Updated 20.07.2022

From 28 to 31 July 2022, the CleanUP Days will take place in Tyrol for the first time. Nature enthusiasts will meet in small groups to collect rubbish together on mountains, in forests, on lakeshores, in communities and other places to set an example for nature. In the Innsbruck region, too, a significant contribution to environmental protection is made within the framework of this communal outdoor experience. Interested parties can register for the clean-up campaign at any time and become part of the sustainable project. Distribution points for the CleanUP kits can be found in Innsbruck, Igls, Axams and Mieming.

Locals and guests alike will find perfect conditions for a wide range of leisure activities in the Innsbruck region. The alpine-urban environment offers both adventure and relaxation. To ensure that unforgettable moments can continue to be experienced in the midst of nature, it is important to pay attention to landscape protection. Attention is being drawn to this with local initiatives by the Alpine Club, the Innsbruck Municipal Works (IKB) and other associations, and now also with the Tyrol CleanUP Days as an international campaign. "We are pleased that the CleanUP Days will also take place in the Innsbruck region and that we are part of it. Clean-up campaigns like this are an important sign in terms of environmental protection and we are glad that the project is getting so much attention, because the preservation of our beautiful nature is of great importance to us," agree Barbara Plattner, Managing Director of Innsbruck Tourism, and Chairman Mario Gerber.

Freeing nature from rubbish

The Tyrol CleanUP Days focus on the diversity and beauty of the living and natural environment. The days are organised by the non-profit association PATRON e.V. in cooperation with the Austrian Tourist Board and the six Tyrolean regions involved: the Lech Nature Park with the Reutte Nature Park Region and the Lech Valley, the Achensee Region, the PillerseeTal Region, the St. Johann in Tyrol Region and the Innsbruck Region. Last year, the entire initiative already brought together over 5,000 volunteers for the good cause. This year, the Tyrol CleanUP Days are the fourth stop on the PATRON CleanUP Tour 2022, following the initiatives at Lake Constance, in the Black Forest and in the Allgäu.

Doing good together

Participants can choose the date as well as the route themselves and thus continue to keep their favourite places in the region clean. For the duration of the event, pick-up stations will be set up at Kaufhaus Tyrol in Innsbruck and at the tourist information offices in Igls, Axams and Mieming. There, participants can pick up their free CleanUP kits, consisting of a recyclable fabric bag and stainless steel tongs. Information on the pick-up stations, waste collection points and routes of the participating teams can be found in the CleanUP Map. In addition, all nature enthusiasts can take part in a competition to win, among other things, overnight stays in Tyrol, a balloon ride and a holiday.

Highlight in Innsbruck

The joint success of the clean-up campaign will be celebrated twice in the course of two live concerts: singer-songwriter Daniel Avens will perform songs from his first album and local singer Helianth will provide another highlight with her moving lyrics
