Tief im Wald, hoch am Berg, mitten in den Kräutern mit nachhaltiger Anreise: Einmalige Themenwanderungen im PillerseeTal

Updated 24.08.2022

Until October, the three nature experts will be taking holidaymakers into their world, raising awareness for the environment and awakening a passion for the alpine habitat. And what's special about the PillerseeTal - sustainability and quality of life have been a priority in the region for some time now. And this year the holiday destination is going one step further.

Nature is considered the greatest source of strength for body and soul. In the PillerseeTal, the easternmost tip of the Kitzbühel Alps, there are not only untouched stretches of land, but also experts who love and know their homeland like the back of their hand. They take guests on specially developed themed hikes and raise their awareness of the surroundings. The herbalist explains the healing effects of plants. The relaxation specialist guides you to your inner centre through conscious perception in the forest during "Shinrin Yoku". The mongoose expert shows what you usually only hear: marmots. Some of the walks are offered daily and cost between 19 and 45 euros per person. More information at www.pillerseetal.at

"Nature is a laid table, help yourselves," says Birgit Schwaiger. She is an expert in botany. Three times a week she takes you into the forest and meadows around the Rohrhof high above Fieberbrunn to look for herbs and identify plants: from primrose to willowherb to bearberry and many more. After the short hike, Birgit invites you to her herb parlour, where you can make juices, teas, ointments and spreads under her guidance. You can also create your own natural cosmetics and even soaps, all of which you can of course taste and take home. The "Medicinal Herb Walks & Workshop" offer will take place until 29 October 2022 every Thursday at 9.30 a.m., Tuesday and Saturday at 2 p.m. (duration approx. two hours) and costs 45 euros per person.

Those who want to experience the spiritual power of nature join relaxation expert Lisa Flatscher for "Shinrin Yoku". The trend from Japan literally means "immersion in the forest atmosphere" and is the programme for the walks. By consciously experiencing and feeling nature, new energy is recharged and everyday stress is reduced. In addition, one learns a lot of "amazing things" from forest lore and ecology. Targeted meditation as well as mindfulness and sensory exercises round off the experience. Lisa Flatscher meets for "forest bathing" in Waidring every Monday at 4 pm until 17 October 2022 (duration approx. one and a half hours). The course costs from 19 euros per person.

Thethird hike is animalistic in the truest sense of the word, because here you will meet a real PillerseeTaler mountain dweller. Every Monday, Peter Kendlbacher takes young and old along to the "Manggei", as the Tyroleans affectionately call the marmot. From the meeting point at the Aubad car park in Fieberbrunn, the three to four-hour, easy mountain hike leads up to the home of the shy rodents, which are otherwise rarely seen in the wild. Thanks to the expertise of the mountain hiking guide, however, participants meet the whistling little animal in person and learn all kinds of interesting facts about its history and living conditions on the mountain. The "Manggei Hike" costs from 35 euros for adults.
