Presentation of the winter offer in the Stubai Valley under the motto "sporty and sustainable in the snow"

To kick off the winter season, the Stubai Tourism Association, together with the Stubai Glacier, invited the media to a press lunch in Munich. The media interest was great. Fifty media representatives from the winter sports and travel industry gathered at the Wirtshaus in der Au on Wednesday, 9 November 2022. In addition to a lively exchange among each other, the offers and innovations were presented under the motto "sporty and sustainable in the snow" and moderated by Guido Heuber.

Catherine Propst (Head of Marketing & PR Stubai Glacier) commented on the start of the season: "We are delighted with the successful start to the ski season on the Stubai Glacier and are confident that demand for winter sports will remain high in the coming weeks and months.

In addition to the presentation of sports offers for the whole family, an initial summary of the start of the season and the reference to events such as the INTERSPORT Snow Days or the Freeski World Cup Stubai, important topics were discussed. Above all on sustainability and the energy issue. "Basically, the Stubai Glacier is technically at a very high level in all areas with regard to energy efficiency and sustainability. If the circumstances require it, we can react with concrete measures. Conceivable examples include reducing the speed of the lifts or lowering the room temperatures indoors," continues Propst, emphasising that those responsible are doing their utmost to offer guests a carefree winter sports experience.

Beyond the start of the season, travel was also an important aspect of the press lunch in Munich. Here, the focus for Michael Gstrein (PR & Media Manager TVB Stubai) and Khaled El-Hussein, a representative of Deutsche Bahn, was above all on sustainable travel with regard to the journey to the winter sports resort. "The Stubai Valley is one of the first regions in Austria to offer seamless arrival and departure by train and bus to the destination and its ski areas," said Gstrein. Sustainability in winter sports and in general is of great importance for the holiday destination. One contribution that the Stubai Tourism Association has been making to this for several years now is high investment in regional bus transport. Strengthening the public transport network between Innsbruck and the Stubai Valley reduces waiting times and closes the gap from the train station to the destination. "The famous last mile, which is often still the "missing link" when travelling by public transport, is fully developed into the Stubaital," confirms Khaled El-Hussein.

The press lunch, hosted by the popular sports presenter Guido Heuber, was informative and constructive. In addition to the most important and current topics, an exchange including valuable inputs was offered. Building blocks for future perspectives and projects, such as the WinterRail platform, were presented. They can serve as an incentive for a sporty and sustainable relationship with winter sports.
