Starpower für den guten Zweck – Musiktruch’n Gala zu Gunsten Licht ins Dunkel

Updated on 29.04.2022

After a two-year forced break, the Gauder Fest is back. Austria's biggest spring and traditional costume festival kicked off again on Thursday 28 April 2022 with the ORF Radio Tirol Musiktruch'n Gala in aid of Licht ins Dunkel. Stars from the pop music scene, including Die Draufgänger, Gilbert and Petra Frey as well as local Zillertal heroes, ensured a great atmosphere. Hits such as "Cordula Grün", "Weil du mein Leben bist" and "Königin der Nacht" got the audience dancing and celebrating in the Zillertal Bier festival tent. All proceeds were once again donated to the "Licht ins Dunkel" campaign.

The evening started full of anticipation with ORF Radio Tirol presenter Alex Weber, who brought the top stars of the Schlager scene to the stage, including Die Draufgänger, Gilbert and Petra Frey. The pop luminaries performed one rousing hit after another and transformed the marquee into a paradise of folk music. Numerous groups from the region - the Zillertaler Haderlumpen, the young Zillertaler and the Zellberg Buam - as well as the Styrian Pagger Buam created a unique atmosphere on the Gauder Fest 2022 charity evening with their musical highlights.

Gauder Thursday for a good cause

Traditionally, the beer is only tapped on Gauder Friday, but the guests were not deterred from celebrating a lively kick-off on Thursday. The evening was all about charity. Presenter Alex Weber and the musicians all waived their fees and donated the entire proceeds to the "Licht ins Dunkel" campaign instead. The musicians from the Draufgängers welcomed this move together and were delighted to be part of the Gauder Fest: "Whenever you can help in any way - especially if you can help with music - then we're very happy to do it!" And about the Gauder Fest: "We're amazed at how big the Gauder Fest is and we're excited to see how people celebrate in the Zillertal." Petra Frey also shared this opinion and added: "Combining the joyful with something good has always been a great idea."

Traditional Gauder Bock - Austria's strongest festival beer

The official opening of the Gauder Fest will take place on Friday, 29 April 2022, with the tapping of the legendary Gauder Bock by Governor Günther Platter. This festival beer from Zillertal Bier, which is unrivalled in Austria at 7.8 per cent by volume, is brewed for the time around the Gauder Fest and has always been an integral part of it. The Gambrinus speech is another highlight following the beer tapping on the same day. Luis from South Tyrol (Manfred Zöschg) amuses the audience with his cabaret contribution, which is peppered with humorous and biting jabs at politics and society.
