St. Anton am Arlberg, Austria: training, competition, regeneration

Biking, hiking and alpine mountain experiences: This is what the year-round sporty St. Anton am Arlberg stands for in the summer months. Against the striking Alpine backdrop of the Austrian "world village", numerous events have established themselves well into autumn. Competitions like the Arlberg Giro are always fast-paced and energy-sapping. But the picturesque landscape of the 150-kilometre route also attracts those participants to the starting line who are not competing for a top place and see the racing bike classic as an experience. A valuable side effect of the exercise on the mountain: the lower oxygen content at medium altitudes is perfect for fitness and endurance training, which is why numerous professional athletes also appreciate the alpine surroundings of St. Anton am Arlberg (1,304 metres). Things get more relaxed in September, when balance and dance in the soothing Tyrolean air round off the warm season. www.stantonamarlberg.com

Road bike cult in a new guise: Arlberg Giroon 31 July 2022The road bike classic Arlberg Giro takes you on narrow tyres from St. Anton over the Arlberg Pass to Bludenz and back through the Montafon via the Silvretta High Alpine Road as well as the Paznaun and Stanzer valleys. In total, there are 150 kilometres to cover and 2,500 metres of ascent. The starting signal is given at 6 a.m. in the pedestrian zone of St. Anton am Arlberg. In its 11th edition, the "Mythos" Giro will also be starting with new branding; the official trailer on YouTube provides a first glimpse.

Balance meets Diversity: Mountain Yoga Festivalfrom 1 to 4 September 2022Unroll the mat, take a deep breath and soak up energy: the international yoga scene will come together for the sixth time in St. Anton am Arlberg. When luminaries like Sandra Wijkman Donovan, Alexandra Sagorz-Zimmerl or Manel Rodrigues impart expertise on crane, warrior and co., the Tyrolean mountain village becomes an oversized open-air studio. The four-day programme - this year under the motto "Diversity" - includes sessions of different styles for every level. The participants decide for themselves how intensive or relaxed they want their stay to be. Beyond the mat, yogis can look forward to guided walks, workshops, lectures, gentle sounds and healthy cuisine with regional ingredients.

Country feeling with a world record attempt: Line Dance Festivalfrom 9 to 11 September 2022In September 2022, St. Anton am Arlberg will be transformed into a single dance floor for the fifth time. Participants from near and far will prove their sense of rhythm in the Tyrolean mountain village and celebrate together what line dancing is all about: pure joie de vivre. The successful world record attempt in 2010 was followed by a real "line dance boom" - in 2022 a new record is to follow, in which 20 thoroughly choreographed dances have to be mastered in one hour.
