Snowbombing becomes #NOBOMBING

Updated 01.04.2022

The holiday region of Mayrhofen-Hippach will host the international music festival Snowbombing from 3 to 9 April 2022. Besides a brilliant line-up with international artists, this time the event is also in the service of a good cause. Under the tagline #NO-BOMBING, the organisers show solidarity with the situation in Ukraine and collect donations for the international aid organisation War Child during the festival week.

"After a few difficult years, we are incredibly happy to be back in Mayrhofen - spending precious time with our friends, experiencing the Zillertal mountains, enjoying good food and incredible music. We are creating unforgettable memories, Gareth Cooper, founder and boss of Snowbombing expresses his delight. "We really appreciate our circumstances and couldn't host this year's festival without thinking of those less fortunate than ourselves: the people of Ukraine and other war-torn countries around the world. We have therefore chosen to partner with the children's charity War Child. War Child does incredible work helping children in war-torn regions, like Ukraine."

Hats off to the organisers

I have the utmost respect for the organisers for managing to pull off Snowbombing in the current circumstances. Brexit and Corona may be a huge nuisance for the organisers, but making a statement against war with #NOBOMBING and wanting to help directly is motivation enough to face all these challenges and put on a good week of events. "Hats off" to what Gareth Cooper and his entire team have achieved in the past weeks," Andreas Lackner, Managing Director of the Mayrhofen Tourism Association, is pleased that Snowbombing 2022 has come about.

Fundraising campaign #NOBOMBING

The fundraising campaign under the #NOBOMBING banner comprises several measures spread over the entire festival week. The current activities can be found at www.snowbombing.com. The organisers have already decided not to have fireworks at the end of the event, and all the money spent on them will go into the War Child donation pot. Festival visitors are also invited to make their contribution, for example by donating their unused consumption credit at the end of the week.

"Our final fundraising total will also be matched by the UK government as part of War Child's Unlock A Generation appeal - meaning if we all pull together we can do something really special here and really raise a lot of money," reports Gareth Cooper confidently.

War Child is the UK's only specialist charity for children affected by conflict. Their aim is to ensure a safe future for children who have been uprooted from their homes, stranded on borders, have no food or water, have lost family members and don't know when they will be safe again. For over 30 years, the charity has been working to protect, educate and protect the rights of children affected by conflict by quickly providing them with life-saving assistance and psychological support.
