The STUBAI ULTRATRAIL (SUT) is one of the most beautiful and spectacular trail races in the Alps. The race starts at 1 a.m. in the Olympic city of Innsbruck, then continues over 68 kilometres through the night to the finish on the Stubai Glacier at over 3000 metres. Three shorter races, also with a finish on the glacier, as well as the newly added STUBAI VERTICAL, round off the programme.
Thanks to its unique course, the STUBAI ULTRATRAIL is considered one of the most spectacular trail running events of all. Under the fitting motto "city2glacier", the run starts at 1 a.m. in Innsbruck and stretches over 68 kilometres and more than 5,000 metres in altitude up to the Stubai Glacier; including a steep final climb in the snow to the finish at the "Jochdohle" restaurant, at an altitude of exactly 3,178 metres. Gradients of 20 to 30% are not uncommon. The fastest men need about 8:30 hours, the fastest women about 10 hours. Shorter, but no less fascinating: the STUBAI K32, the STUBAI K20 and the STUBAI K9. What they all have in common: the final ascent on the glacier!
Target group: Trail runners and mountain-savvy athletes
The STUBAI ULTRATRAIL appeals to a wide range of runners: Due to the rather low downhill portion in relation to the course length, trail running beginners and advanced runners will also find ideal - and knee-saving - competitions. They are joined by all outdoor sports enthusiasts with an affinity for mountains who are looking for a challenge, especially on the ascent; for example, classic mountain runners, ski tourers, mountaineers, mountain bikers or sporty hikers. Experienced ultra runners appreciate the variety of the course and the unique ambience of the SUT.
New in 2022: STUBAI VERTICAL
New in 2022 is the STUBAI VERTICAL: 890 metres in altitude over 5.3 kilometres, with start in Neustift and finish at the mountain station of the Elferbahnen at an altitude of almost 1800 metres. The race already takes place on Thursday evening at 7 p.m., and can be booked individually as well as with a small surcharge of 12 euros for participants of the other races - ideal for all participants from the region, but also those who use the SUT for a long weekend in the Stubai.
