Every lake in Austria has its own unique character. But the local lakes have one thing in common: when the summer heat becomes unbearable and you dare to go into the cool water, a true fountain of youth reveals itself to you. And life at the lake is also characterised by very special people, mutual appreciation and entertainment.
Last year, a film team set out to visit some of these people at the country's most beautiful lakeside jewels for the ServusTV format "Heimatleuchten - Ein Sommer wie damals".
The people responsible for the programme did not fail to notice that the Reutte Nature Park region has a lot to offer in terms of dreamlike lakes. The film was shot at the second largest lake in Tyrol, the Plansee. It is shaped like a Norwegian fjord - over seven kilometres long, up to 78 metres deep and in some places not even 200 metres wide - and is not only one of the most beautiful but also one of the cleanest lakes in the country. The most recent survey as part of the EU bathing water monitoring once again adjudged it to have outstanding water quality.
In the feature on the lake jewels, viewers can look forward not only to impressive pictures but also to interesting interview partners. Wolfgang Wohlgenannt, for example, will talk about the unique shore. He has been walking around the lake every day for four years now. The big goal of hobby swimmer Claudia Huter was to swim across the Plansee at 14 degrees without a protective wetsuit.
Whether this worked and much more can be seen on Friday, 15 July 2022 from 8:15 pm on ServusTV in "Heimatleuchten: Ein Sommer wie damals - Seejuwelen".
