English is not only the most widely spoken language in the world and the international language of tourism par excellence, it is now also a daily working language in many local businesses. Against this backdrop, the MCI will offer the established Bachelor's degree programme in Business Management, Tourism & Leisure Business as an English branch of study in addition to the existing offer from autumn 2022.
"We are sensing a lively demand for an English-language branch of study, especially among young people in Austria and from our Austrian tourism businesses. This makes it possible to deal with more international topics and to involve professors, students and partner universities from all over the world in our studies," explains MCI Rector Andreas Altmann
The new English-language branch of study not only strengthens internationality, but also offers elective modules in various subjects. The latter will also be expanded in the German-language branch of study. At the core, both branches of study offer a clear focus on business management, marketing and sustainable tourism and leisure management as well as two compulsory foreign languages. In addition, the 6-semester, business-oriented tourism degree programme offers a compulsory professional internship in Austria or abroad as well as a semester abroad at one of the numerous international MCI partner universities.
"Tourism & Leisure Management will continue to be an equally booming and exciting field of work in the future and offers young people attractive career prospects at home and abroad. Travel in its various facets and dimensions is part of our lives and will be more valuable than ever, especially in the post-Covid era," says Hubert Siller, head of the MCI Department of Tourism & Leisure Business.
