Nachhaltig unterwegs in der Outdoorregion Imst – so fühlt sich Freiheit für Gravelbiker und Kletterer an

Updated 01.08.2022

For all outdoor enthusiasts who love saddle-fast tours on the (e-)mountain bike or gravel bike and also the vertical, the outdoor region Imst is a sesame-opener.

Sporty bike tours - whether on an (e-)mountain bike or gravel bike, there is a suitable model for everyone. And: graveling is the trend. Why is that? For road cyclists, there is a real alternative to the mountain bike, which is usually used purely as an off-road bike: the gravel bike - for comfortable, long-distance and off-road cycling.

Then it's: Once across on the gravel bike through the outdoor region Imst - for conquerors and explorers who feel safe on any terrain. Away from the noise of traffic, the route takes you along unpaved forest roads, field paths and gravel past original Tyrolean villages and hamlets with enjoyable stops for refreshments. If you are looking for a "bikepacking" adventure, the Via Claudia Augusta and the Inn Cycle Path are just the ticket. More information: www.gravelbike.tirol.

Climbers will find a true paradise in the outdoor region of Imst: With over 3,000 routes of all difficulty levels, one of the highest climbing gyms in Austria and the stone block bouldering hall, the area in the Oberland in Tyrol has made a name for itself as one of the top spots on the scene.

The Rote Wand in Karres has been perfectly renovated - and as an exemplary showcase climbing garden with an exposed sunny location, it also invites you to rock climb all year round. And that climbing can mean happiness and equally sporting fulfilment is shown by the favourite routes of the local four-time world champion Angy Eiter: her favourites are in the Muttekopf rest area. Here climbers get their money's worth - with a high number of varied routes for beginners and experts.

In the outdoor region of Imst there is always climbing weather: But if it doesn't play along, there is pure action fun in the Imst climbing centre on 1,420 square metres in the pyramid and on 1,312 square metres at the covered outdoor climbing tower - for beginners, families and those interested in climbing. Ambitious climbers can complete their training sessions here. Smaller halls in Karrösten and Tarrenz as well as the Steinblock bouldering hall complete the comprehensive indoor offer.

Outdoor climbers can expect an excellent infrastructure in the region: The Imst climbing area can score points with sustainable maintenance: All climbing offers are subject to the strict quality criteria of Climbers Paradise, a platform initiated to ensure uniform safety and maintenance standards.

Alfred Flür, who heads the maintenance team, points out: "The quality standards that Climbers Paradise Tyrol has set for itself are probably unique in the Alps. But a climbing garden doesn't just have to be drilled in once, it also has to be continuously maintained and looked after."

Ten maintenance officers are on the road once a year on behalf of Imst Tourism, checking every route. "We check everything - from bolts to via ferrata to local conditions: Is the rock loose, does it need to be cleared or is a rock blasting pending? Is the hook secure? Is the carabiner used for abseiling secure?" says the experienced alpinist and mountain guide.

Experience the fascination of climbing in the secured Climbers Paradise and develop your climbing skills on the rock: For pleasure climbers, young talents, cracks or experienced alpinists, here is more info.
