Riiber still unbeaten in Seefeld

Jarl Magnus Riiber remains unbeaten in Seefeld: The Norwegian celebrates his seventh World Cup triumph in a row on the first day of the Nordic Combined Triple in the Olympic region. But the local hero can also celebrate: Johannes Lamparter secured his first podium on home soil with third place. He had a strong final run with Vinzenz Geiger, which Geiger won in the final climb. Lukas Greiderer, another Austrian and Tyrolean local hero, finished in the top 10

Tyrolean hero was able to finish in the top 10. In terms of the overall ranking everything is still open - also thanks to the new format

Day 2 of the Nordic Combined Triple

Nordic Combined Triple Seefeld remains exciting

Surprising change in the lead at the Nordic Combined Triple Seefeld: Not the previous dominator Jarl Magnus Riiber will start the decision day in Seefeld as the leader, but the German Vinzenz Geiger - closely followed by the local hero: Johannes Lamparter keeps the hopes for the first Austrian World Cup victory in Seefeld since 2010 high. Lamparter was able to extend his lead in the overall World Cup over Jarl Magnus Riiber, who finished day 2 in 10th place.

Day 3

Heartbeat final at the Nordic Combined Triple Seefeld

What a dramatic decision at the Nordic Combined Triple: The Norwegian Joergen Graabak surprisingly secured the prestigious title in Seefeld. Local hero Johannes Lamparter was only 1.5 seconds short of the overall victory

Perhaps not many people had him on their list: Joergen Graabak (NOR) celebrated his first World Cup victory in Seefeld in three years and underlined the dramaturgy resulting from the new mode of the Nordic Combined Triple with the surprising title triumph. The Norwegian was still in 11th place after day one, combined to a strong third place on Saturday to finally strike in the final of the Nordic Combined Triple: "It was a tough but exciting and interesting race. Johannes was incredibly strong. I'm glad that I was able to use my experience in the last metres, but it was a fair duel," Graabak said to the young Austrian star. Johannes Lamparter was only 1.5 seconds short of the first overall triple victory by an Austrian in Seefeld: With the fastest time over the 12.5 kilometres, the Rumer skied a more than committed race, tried to keep up the pace at the front in order to annoy the two Norwegians, Riiber and Graabak, and to stand up to the strong finishers

The strong finishers. In the decisive last metres, however, the routine of the 2014 Olympic champion prevailed. Lamparter was satisfied: "Today was a mega day

mega great day. I am very happy with second place. You can't imagine a better home World Cup. I am very proud of my performance." In the overall World Cup, the Tyrolean collects further important points and goes into the Olympic Games as World Cup leader. The team performance of the Austrians, on the other hand, was strong: Martin Fritz achieved his best result of the season with seventh place. Franz Josef Rehrl finished ninth with a very good jump after a long wind break and a super cross-country race. With Lukas Klapfer

in 11th place, Mario Seidl in 13th place and Lukas Greiderer in 15th place, a total of six ÖSV athletes combined in the top 15.

The organisers of the Nordic Combined Triple are also satisfied. Even though the wind conditions as well as the strict Covid safety precautions made the realisation of the event on the three competition days a real challenge for the whole team, OC director Thomas Unterfrauner knows: "This was today's combination as one would like to see it. Perfect advertising for the sport and of course for Seefeld. I would like to thank the entire team for the good cooperation. A great triple, despite challenging circumstances. Next year, of course, we really hope to welcome visitors to our stadium again."
