Passion: Skiing The post-war period is dreary, what the future holds is uncertain. The six young people from Kitzbühel Ernst Hinterseer, Fritz Huber, Hias Leitner, Anderl Molterer, Christian Pravda and Toni Sailer have known each other since their youth and have only one passion: skiing. Financial means are scarce, the young talents, most of whom come from farming families, help each other to get to the venues of the ski races. On the side, they also pursue manual trades. And yet they win an incredible 28 medals at major events and spark an unprecedented wave of euphoria in the country. The boys become global media stars and admired role models who continue to shape generations after them. Grandchildren in the roles of their grandfathers For the documentary, Hubertus von Hohenlohe interviews some of the skiing greats about their success at the time and also lets old companions have their say. The still living ski legends Hias Leitner, Ernst Hinterseer and Anderl Molterer talk about conflicts behind the scenes, the hard way to the top and why their careers are closely linked to Kitzbühel and the Hahnenkamm. In elaborately filmed reenactments, the members of the wonder team are played in part by their own grandchildren. The difficult circumstances of the post-war period and the arduous beginning of the careers are traced here as well as the successful years and later life paths of the individual members of this wonder team.
