When the shore in St. Ulrich am Pillersee is bathed in the bright glow of candles and torches, there is a wonderful smell of waffles, punch and mulled wine, and the sound of orchestral brass bands fills the air, the most wonderful time of the year has begun: On two Advent weekends, the romantic Christkindldorf am See opens its doors for the third time and invites young and old to experience the magic of the pre-Christmas season with all their senses.
The nights are getting longer, the snowflakes are falling gently on the fields and Christmas is not far away! To shorten the wait for the Christ Child, the traditional customs events in the PillerseeTal region invite you to come, marvel and linger. Amidst the dreamlike winter landscape, the covered slopes of the surrounding mountains and the snow-covered peaks, the most wonderful time of the year is traditionally sweetened in December with homemade biscuits, hot mulled wine and delicious roasted almonds. Candlelight and fire bowls, storytellers and brass bands provide contemplative moments. Cosiness and romance, just like in the old days, in front of a dreamlike mountain backdrop
The people of the Pillerseetal love Advent. They always have. Each of the five villages - Fieberbrunn, Hochfilzen, St. Jakob in Haus, St. Ulrich am Pillersee and Waidring - with their total of around 10,000 inhabitants, nestled against the mountains in the midst of the Kitzbühel Alps, has its own special traditions and customs. The magical Advent in the PillerseeTal, which opens its doors for the third time this year, builds on this. Half the valley is involved in making it even more beautiful. Even more atmospheric, even cosier. Simply perfect
Romantic Christmas village on the lake
When the shore in St. Ulrich am Pillersee is bathed in the bright glow of candles and torches, there is a wonderful smell of waffles, punch and mulled wine, and the sound of orchestral brass bands fills the air, the most wonderful time of the year has begun: On two Advent weekends, the romantic Christkindldorf on the lake opens its doors for the third time and invites young and old to experience the magic of the pre-Christmas season with all their senses. First taste the delicious delicacies, then perhaps head to the "village square" and look over the shoulders of selected artisans from the PillerseeTal? If you're still looking for an individual Christmas present, you're sure to find one here. Meanwhile, the little ones look forward to getting closer to cuddly four-legged friends in the petting zoo, taking part in the programme specially put together for them or listening to the storyteller who enchants with fairytales and myths.
3./The fair is openfrom 2 to 8 p.m. on 4 December and 10-11 December
Once again this year, a free Regiobus in the PillerseeTal will take you to the Christkindldorf by the lake. Everyone who chooses the sustainable journey with the shuttle bus will receive a small surprise in the Christkindldorf am See. The timetable will be available from November at www.pillerseetal.at.
Throughout the pre-Christmas period, the PillerseeTal attracts visitors with many other atmospheric events, such as the traditional nativity scene exhibition (26/27 November), the Barbara Market or the St. Nicholas procession and Krampus Run (4 December)
