Cross-country skiing is trendy and promotes health. In order to make it easier for beginners, and especially children, to get started in this beautiful winter sport, the TVB Wipptal in cooperation with cross-country skiing professional Markus Gandler is offering a cross-country skiing opening in the Gschnitztal on 02 and 03 December 2022.
The mountain climbing village Gschnitztal is a true paradise for cross-country skiers. In total, there are about 40 km of trails in this valley between Trins and Steinach, half of the offer for classic style, half for skaters. The trails are mainly easy to medium in difficulty and use is free of charge for locals and guests. The wonderful backdrop of the Gschnitztal valley with the impressive view of the valley head, which cross-country skiers can see in front of them as they head into the valley, is particularly noteworthy. In addition, it is a very snow-sure area, especially at the back of the valley. Since 1986, the Gschnitztal cross-country trails have been awarded the Tyrol's cross-country trail quality seal without interruption.
On the first weekend in December, a cross-country skiing station is set up at the end of the Gschnitztal at Gasthof Feuerstein, where test equipment for adults and children is available for hire, both for the classic and skating styles. Furthermore, cross-country skiing instructors are available to offer technique courses for beginners and slightly advanced skiers. Waxing courses and information on new equipment are also part of the repertoire. HP-Sports Steinach (test material) and the Cross Country Academy Seefeld are cooperation partners. A contribution towards expenses of € 10 per person will be collected directly on site.
Friday is dedicated to young skiers. In order to make cross-country skiing appealing to the little ones, a cross-country course will be set up on which children can approach the sport of cross-country skiing in a playful way. Of course, there will also be helpful tips and instruction for the little ones.
Packages including accommodation and test days can be booked through the TVB Wipptal: https://www.wipptal.at/de/wipptal-erleben/winter/urlaubsangebote-winter/langlauf-opening/
