Preparations are in full swing. This year, the most legendary sports town in the Alps will once again be transformed into a venue for world-class tennis for a whole week and will attract professional players as well as enthusiastic tennis fans to the Gamsstadt as part of the Generali Open.
Top tennis players visit Kitzbühel
The promising list of starters for this year's Generali Open Kitzbühel boasts an attractive and international line-up. At the same time, the top-class field of participants sets high expectations. No less than four clay court players from the top 25 rankings of the ATP World Tour are to be mentioned at the top of the entry list as crowd pullers. Among them is even a top 5 player, namely last year's winner in the singles, Caspar Ruud. The Norwegian wants to defend his title again this year. In addition, the 26-year-old Italian Matteo Berrettini, who is number 15 in the world rankings, has announced his participation. Closely followed by number 20, the Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut, who will also be taking part again, as well as the French tennis pro Gael Monfils. Furthermore, local hero Dominic Thiem will provide sporting entertainment for the numerous cheering spectators at the matches. The first-round appearance of Austrian tennis star Dominic Thiem has already been scheduled. The match will be played on Tuesday, 26 July 2022 in the night session at 7:30 pm under floodlights
For one week, from Saturday, 23 July 2022 to Saturday, 30 July 2022, the traditional tournament under tournament director Alexander Antonitsch guarantees pure excitement and emotion with thrilling matches and the dramatic fight for the highly coveted trophy. The matches start at 11:00 a.m. every day. But it's also worth taking a look away from the courts, as there will once again be plenty on offer at the Kitzbühel Tennis Club (KTC). Other special programme items include the 7th Huber's Weißwurst-Frühschoppen on Sunday, 24 July 2022 from 11:00 am or the Krone Ladies Day with Babsi Schett on Tuesday, 26 July 2022.
