Kirchberg becomes a sea of flowers

Updated 10.08.2022

The Brixen Valley is blooming again: On 15 August, the Blumencorso 2022 will take place in Kirchberg. More than 30 creatively and artistically decorated flower carts will parade through the streets. The parade starts at 3 pm. But there is also a lot on the programme before and after the parade with a morning pint and the summer night party.

On 15 August, more than 500,000 dahlias, carnations, gerberas and sunflowers will decorate the colourful works of art that will be pulled through the streets of Kirchberg by cars, vintage cars, tractors and carriages. Painstakingly hand-applied to polystyrene, the flowers form a wide variety of creations, and there are no limits to the participants' choice. There are splendidly designed animals and imaginative mythical creatures as well as motifs that focus on current events and traditional themes. The procession is accompanied by the Aschau and Kirchberg bands. The flower parade is an annual visual highlight, attracting thousands of onlookers from near and far.

This year's Blumencorso will kick off at 11 a.m. with a Radio U1 morning pint. The Thierseer", the "Tiroler Partymander", "Die Alpis", "Vollgas Tirol" and "Die jungen Wladensteiner" will provide the musical accompaniment until 2 pm. Then at 3 pm the engines of the flower carts start - the "Flower Parade" sends the colourfully decorated vehicles through the streets of Kirchberg. The summer night festival with live bands will then begin at 5 pm. There is also something for the little festival visitors with a children's programme throughout the day.
