This Friday, 11.11.2022 at 11.11 a.m., the SALOMON Pitz Alpine Glacier Trail (PAGT) will be over. With the start of the carnival season, registration traditionally opens for one of Austria's most prominent trails and ultra trails.
The PAGT embodies so much that makes the hearts of running and mountain lovers beat faster. Seven competitions between 15 and 105 kilometres as well as a kids' trail lead through the beautiful and wild nature of the Pitztal, to where Tyrol is at its highest. And so the PAGT is the trail that literally goes the furthest up to the "roof" of Tyrol.
And quite honestly. How cool is it to walk across a glacier at an altitude of over 3000 m in the deep black of night? (Answer: very cool!) How satisfying is it to have completed one of the many distances available and to enjoy the alcohol-free winner's beer in Mandarfen? (Answer: very satisfying!) How motivating will the training be in the coming weeks and months once the registration is done? (Answer: very, very motivating!)
Although it is still some time before the PAGT - the event will take place from 4 to 6 August 2023 - there is no time to lose in registering. As expected, over 40% of the starting places for the event, which has been sold out for years, have already been sold by the time registration opens.
So it's better to set your alarm clock for 11.11. at 11.11 am. And that's no joke.
