Up the mountain in peak time

Updated 23.08.2022

Sunday, 28 August 2022 marks the 44th anniversary of the International Mountain Road Race up the Kitzbüheler Horn and holds excitement in store.

Challenging sports tradition

One of Austria's most famous mountain runs is coming up again. Organised by Koasalauf legend Franz Puckl and part of the prominent "Salomon Running Tour" race series since 2009, the athletic competition brings together top athletes from all over the world to measure their strength. The run demands a lot: On a course of 12.9 kilometres and a gradient of up to 25 percent, 1,234 metres of altitude are waiting to be conquered in the best time. The starting signal will be given on Sunday, 28 August 2022 at 9:00 a.m. in Kitzbühel's city centre, from where the route will take the Römerweg to the panorama road at the foot of Kitzbühel's local mountain. Via countless serpentines and past the Alpenhaus, the destination of the summit is finally reached with the TV station at 1,996 metres. A magnificent view at the end is guaranteed. Spectators at the start and finish areas as well as along the course are also welcome to cheer on the runners.
