The highlight of the festival summer from 11 - 14 August 2022 in Auffach - Wildschönau
The Wildschönau Valley Festival is not only one of the largest, but also one of the most colourful festivals in Tyrol. Music of various genres on 4 days and the great parade on Sunday are on the programme.
After a 2-year break, the Wildschönau once again celebrates its popular valley festival. The highlight of the Wildschönau festival calendar takes place for the 65th time and the whole valley is on its feet for the four days. The federal music bands take turns hosting the festival. This year it is the turn of the BMK Auffach again. The valley festival was founded in Auffach.
The absolute highlight is the traditional procession through the village of Auffach on Sunday 14 August. Around 500 people take part: the four federal music bands of the valley, three guest bands, marksmen, many clubs of the region and inhabitants of the Wildschönau. The traditional costumes are particularly beautiful to look at , especially the "Kasettl", the beautifully crafted festive costume of the Wildschönau. Of course, the Wildschönau "Sturmlöda" must not be missed. In their brown garb, with their grey beards and overhanging hats and armed with pitchforks and spears, they look like their ancestors. They marched out with the freedom fighter Andreas Hofer at the beginning of the 19th century to mobilise the last forces against Napoleon and the Bavarians in the Wildschönau. Today they are only on a peaceful mission and on special occasions such as processions and the valley festival.
The theme of the parade is "Tourism through the ages".
