The BVB Evonik Football Academy in Westendorf celebrated its 10th anniversary this year. The BVB summer tour kicked off the football academy on 6 and 7 August. At the music pavilion in Westendorf, the colourful station with different activities was very well attended.

Enthusiastic participants at the football holiday courseOnMonday, 8 August, the starting signal was given for the football academy, which this year welcomed 88 participants from Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and even the USA. 42 of the participants were so-called "returners", i.e. they were taking part in the academy for the second time - one of them even took part in all ten editions! The young footballers enjoyed a professional training programme with new training modules from Monday to Friday and were able to train their football skills, compete with each other and have fun among like-minded people. Training took place on both Westendorf football pitches with six coaches and BVB legend Jörg Heinrich, who himself helped train a group. Creative chef Peter Laiminger from Westendorf served them lunch.Young kickers meet BVB womenAsa special highlight, the BVB women's team, who were on a training camp in Brixental at the same time, spontaneously joined in the training on Friday morning. The BVB women trained in Brixental from 10 to 14 August and competed with TSV 1860 Munich at the weekend. The ladies of SV Westendorf were also able to compete with the Borussian women on the green pitch on Saturday.Great supporting programme off the pitchOn Friday afternoon, the final tournament of the young footballers took place at the end of the football academy, followed by the distribution of certificates and the awarding of medals. In the raffle, 10 fan packs and 5 x 2 tickets for a Borussia Dortmund home game were given away. The brilliant finale was the anniversary evening together with the coaches at the Brechhornhaus. At the top of the slope, the BVB logo was put up with torches and lit at nightfall.The persons accompanying the football kids were able to enjoy their holidays with a varied social programme including an alpaca hike, a visit to the Bergdoktor filming location "Gruberhof" or a visit to the Erber schnapps distillery. The guided tour of the stars was particularly impressive, during which the celestial bodies could be viewed up close with three professional telescopes.Enthusiastic participants, successful organisation and fantastic weather made for a successful football academy, which will be repeated for the 11th time next year from 31 July to 4 August.
