Krampustreiben in the Seefeld pedestrian zone is back

After three years, the time has finally come again: the Seefeld Krampustreiben is starting its 13th round. On 3 December at 7 pm, 20 groups from Austria and South Tyrol will parade through the pedestrian zone before inviting visitors to the after-show party in the Kurpark.

Being good is written in capital letters in Seefeld these days. After a break of two years due to the corona, the traditional Krampus run in the centre of Seefeld is on the programme again. At 7 p.m. the first muffled bells will be heard at the Hotel Klosterbräu, closely followed by the snapping of the rods. By then at the latest, the last of the cheeky laughter will be silenced and some of the previously brave will disappear behind mum and dad or another strong companion.

20 Krampus groups from home and abroad

Then 20 groups with around 300 active Krampuses will parade through the Romantic Christmas Market to the Kurpark Seefeld, surprise the audience with a few show acts and probably also teach one or two cheeky badgers to be afraid in the traditional way with their larvae, the sound of bells and the swinging of rods. "You should be a bit scared," says Daniel (Danny) White, who has been organising the Krampustreiben in Seefeld for around 15 years. Nevertheless, everything remains within bounds, of course; alcohol and aggressive behaviour are taboo for the Krampusse.

Young Guifl open

White knows all of the 20 groups that he brings to Seefeld from all over Austria and South Tyrol on 3 December personally, as he himself has been running as a Krampus since he was a child: "It's great that so many come, that makes us one of the biggest runs in Tyrol on 3 December The event will be opened by the youngsters: the Seefeld Jungtuifl, as the little Krampusse from the age of six are called, will run in front and are certainly looking forward to scaring their classmates and friends.

Finale and after-show party in the Kurpark

The destination of the Krampus drive is the Kurpark. "There, all the groups will be introduced individually, and each one will do a little performance," explains White. Afterwards there's an after-show party with DJ music, food and drink, where no one has to be scared anymore.
