Discover regional specialities every week at the Tuesday Market - from culinary delights to handicrafts and health care
Strolling through the village square and buying local products, mostly directly from the producers, is something you can do every week from June to September at the Seefeld Tuesday Market. The products on offer range from regional delicacies, fresh fruit and vegetables, natural decorative items, unusual jewellery and baby clothes to health-promoting hemp and honey products.
Most of the exhibitors have been at the Dienstagsmarktl for many years, like Ferdinand Schot, who also took over the organisation this spring: "The market is important for us local entrepreneurs and has been successfully built up over the years - that's why I'm happy to take care of the organisation." Schot has been selling his regional bee products at the small market for years and has therefore known the other stall holders for a long time.
Like him, they appreciate the family situation in Seefeld. "The community is unique upstairs," enthuses Monika Praxmarer from Roppen, who has been selling her wooden products at Seefeld's village square every Tuesday for seven years and also knows various other weekly markets. "I like it better than the big markets. The Tuesday market has almost become like a second home and family for me." The Dorfplatz in the middle of Seefeld is simply the most beautiful market place in Tyrol, Christoph Deisenberger and his mother also think. The two of them sell organic hemp products in their Seefeld shop "Unser Kraut". "We and also our customers really like coming here."
The market customers, guests as well as locals, especially appreciate the regional offer. "I am very often asked if my products are homemade," says Praxmarer, who has been working with wood and crafting since childhood. She says she notices that guests in particular like to take something home from their holiday destination - and nowadays ideally also something sustainable.
Anne Sus from Restaurant Zomm in Meilerhof (Reith) also has this experience. At her stand there are Glasl and Flaschl with homemade delicacies - from fruity syrup to hearty sugo - everything that is available regionally and seasonally at the moment. "The customers appreciate our approach, and we really sell very well here." And if you want to try something right away, you can lose yourself in one of patissier Waal Sterneberg's sweet treats right on the spot. Then, freshly fortified, you can discover the other specialities of Seefeld's Tuesday market.
The market takes place every Tuesday during the summer months (until the end of September) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Seefeld's village square.
