Climb the legendary Streif by bike

Updated 08.08.2022

On Assumption Day, all bike lovers are off to a special mountain bike race when Kitzbühel's famous local mountain is once again ridden in a sporting showdown.

Next cycling event is in the starting blocks

About two weeks after the International Kitzbühel Horn Cycle Race, the next highlight in the event calendar of the Gamsstadt is coming up for all cycling enthusiasts. This year, the organisers, Sportverein Kitzsport, invite you to the International Hahnenkamm Mountain Bike Race for the 33rd time. The challenge is not to ski down the legendary Hahnenkamm downhill run, as is usually the case, but to cycle up towards the summit on a mountain bike. Cyclists - from amateurs to professionals - are cordially invited to pedal up the world-famous Streif on a mountain bike and compete with other cyclists.

Get on the saddle, get into the pedals!

The cycling competition will start on Monday, 15 August 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in a mass start in the centre of Kitzbühel. The race numbers will be issued as usual in the town centre at the Sparkasse. The 9-kilometre-long course with 940 metres of altitude difference leads through the Jochberger Tor, along the Hahnenkammstraße past the railway crossing and straight up to the finish at the Walde mountain station at an altitude of 1668 metres. A gradient of up to 16 percent challenges the participants. The award ceremony is celebrated directly afterwards at the Walde mountain station.

Enthusiastic mountain bike fans in the start and finish areas as well as spectators along the route are welcome and invited to experience the traditional cycling spectacle live and cheer on the competitors.

Registrations for the mountain bike race are already open and can be made online at kitzsport.at/hahnenkamm-mtb-rennen/ until Thursday, 11 August 2022.
