In addition to the wide range of winter sports on offer in the Zillertal, which extends over the sunny valley floor, four large-scale ski areas including the Hintertux Glacier and the Zillertal Alps High Mountain Nature Park, it also offers numerous events and festive events for the holidays. Spectacular "Arena Skishow" with effective light spectacleThespectacular event series "Arena Skishow" on the practice meadow at the Gerlos village ski slope will kick off on 26 December 2022 at 8.30 pm. The team of ski and snowboard instructors will demonstrate their skills with artistic wedel formations and impressive freestyle shows, flag parades and torch runs. You can look forward to effective light shows, music and an exuberant atmosphere. From Sunday, 8 January 2023 to Sunday, 12 March 2023, the ski show will take place weekly at 8.30 p.m. on the practice meadow on the village downhill slope in the village centre.

Visitors will not only be spoiled by atmospheric brass music, but also with culinary highlights, heartfelt Christmas wishes and authentic hospitality.
Zillertal New Year's Eve Train 2022 - "Die Jungen Zillertaler" are honorary locomotive drivers and provide atmosphereAn event of a special class is the Zillertal New Year's Eve Train with this year's honorary locomotive drivers "Die Jungen Zillertaler". The steam train runs on 31 December 2022 according to the event timetable at 09:40 from Jenbach station into the snow-covered Zillertal to Mayrhofen and back. It is possible to board the train at all stations of the Zillertal Railway. During the train ride and at the stops, a festive programme, music and culinary delicacies will ensure a festive mood. Highlights of the Zillertal New Year's Eve train include the "Kristallwaggon" decorated with 62,000 Swarovski stones, the legendary "Fasslwagen" and the buffet car in the style of a rustic "Alpenstube". New Year's Horse Race on Snow in MayrhofenAspectacle of a special kind is the New Year's Horse Race in Mayrhofen, when on 01 January 2023 the strongest trotting riders and horsemen once again compete on the racecourse made of snow. The sporting programme includes trotting, Noriker driving, pony driving and galloping. A total of around 80 horses will race around the snow track. A festive setting of atmospheric music and culinary delicacies make the event an entertaining pleasure for friends of equestrian sport, visitors and families with children alike. The festive procession of horse-drawn carriages and guests of honour under the musical accompaniment of the Bundesmusikkapelle Mayrhofen will kick off the event.
