Updated 20.06.2022

For the sixth time, the successful format Crankworx made a guest appearance at the Bikepark Innsbruck in Mutters and, in addition to the international biking elite, once again welcomed numerous spectators and prominent guests on site. In addition to the world's best MTB athletes, representatives from politics, tourism and the economy of Innsbruck did not miss the opportunity to attend the largest gravity mountain bike festival. With over 8,500 fans, the Saturday slopestyle contest set a new record for the number of spectators on site since the event's inception.

180 professional athletes from 27 nations, five days of competitions in seven disciplines, numerous side events, party and festival atmosphere: As the spectacular tour kick-off of the Crankworx Worldtour 2022, the Innsbruck region once again lived up to its name this year. In addition to enthusiastic athletes, including international as well as Austrian bike pros, a sport-loving audience was once again on site at the Bikepark Innsbruck in Mutters. "It is overwhelming to see how many sports-mad fans are cheering on their idols on site again this year and also dare to get on the bike themselves," said Mario Gerber, chairman of Innsbruck Tourism

Gerber was also right in the middle of the action on Saturday, cheering along with more than 8,500 spectators at the "Slopestyle" contest and presenting the winner's medal to Emil Johansson from Sweden, who was the winner for the third time in Innsbruck. Erik Fedko (Germany) followed in 2nd place and Timothé Bringer(France) in 3rd place. "As an absolute fan, I am personally very happy that we are meeting the high demands of the Crankworx World Tour with the host city Innsbruck. The event presents Innsbruck internationally on TV and thus sends strong images about the spectacular perspectives of the region and the city to the whole world. The Bikepark Innsbruck with its freshly shaped trails, the entire event area at the foot of the Muttereralm with a view of the city and the great audience that cheers and celebrates with the riders - Crankworx Innsbruck is a spectacle, is pure goosebumps, I can't describe it any other way," says Gerber enthusiastically. The current agreements between the Crankworx World Tour and Innsbruck expire with this year's edition. Innsbruck Tourism has always been one of the main sponsors of the mountain bike event and also plays a leading role in the continuation of the event. The final decision is expected in the coming autumn.
