The great event marathon of the Stubaital

Updated 13.12.2022

Event-rich winter season from December to March

In addition to the unique winter sports offer in the Stubai, which extends over the four skiing areas Stubai Glacier, Schlick 2000, Elfer as well as the Serles lifts, great events will again be held throughout the valley this season. Whether young or old, families or friends, the Stubaital offers the right event for everyone. From Christmas markets to hiking nights, ski night shows, a freeride test festival on the glacier to culinary highlights with the Ski & BBQ event in the Schlick 2000, everything is included.

The customs and traditions of the Stubai winter can be revived this season. You can feel, experience and taste this. Christmas markets will be held in the villages of the Stubaital until the end of the year. A new, very special market is being held this year in Fulpmes under the motto "Advent at the Boarschmied". On 17/18 and 23 December, the focus here during Advent will be on the blacksmith's history of Fulpmes in addition to culinary Christmas delights.

If you want to enjoy even more Christmas market feeling and the Christmas season to the full, the Christkindlmarkt in Milders - a district of Neustift - is the right address. Every Friday and Saturday throughout December, culinary, contemplative and entertaining delicacies are offered. Among other things, there is a storyteller who delights the youngest visitors every Saturday. The Christkindlmarkt ends after Christmas, on Friday 30 December, with a pre-New Year's Eve party.

Families with their children can already experience something similar on Thursday 29 December at theBIGFAMILY pre-New Year's Eve party at Kampler See in Neustift. From 5 p.m., the last days of the old year will be bid farewell with a participatory concert by Donikkl, transformations at the make-up station, fire shows and a colourful fireworks display.

Things will continue colourful in the new year with the Winter Hiking Nights at the Natur Aktiv Park Klaus Äuele in Neustift - a popular event series that will take place four times between 10 January and 14 February 2023. On these four evenings, the discreetly illuminated winter landscape will once again offer visitors a unique nature experience that is sure to impress with art, culinary delights and entertaining offers. There are numerous attractions that no one should miss: Variety is guaranteed on dog sled rides, during a horse-drawn carriage ride, while curling, ice skating or marvelling at ice carvers. Visitors can enjoy genuine Tyrolean specialities at the delicatessen stands on the grounds of the Natur Aktiv Park, where free shuttle buses take them to and from the park in a relaxed and uncomplicated manner.

Just like the winter hiking nights in Neustift, the Serles Winter H iking Night in Mieders on Tuesday, 21 February 2023 is just the thing for all enthusiastic night hikers. The gondolas of the Serles cable car will take you high up to the trails around the Serles lake, which are illuminated with LED lights. Torchlight hikes and other unforgettable experiences such as night tobogganing and walking acts by various artists are offered here. The Koppeneck mountain restaurant and the Ochsenhütte, where you can party until 10:30 p.m., will cater for your physical well-being. Afterwards, a free shuttle bus will also be running from Schönberg to Volderau.

Opposite Mieders, in the Schlick 2000 ski centre in Fulpmes, the "Night of Colours" ski night shows will once again be fiery and colourful. Eight times this winter, starting on 28 December, an LED light and fire show by the group "Anta agni", skiing demonstrations by the Stubai Ski School as well as demonstrations by the Pistenbullies, the motorcrossers from the "Stoanbeissern" and a light-up helicopter are on the programme every Wednesday. The show starts at 8:30 p.m., before that DJ Fabian Strickner will ensure a good atmosphere from 7:30 p.m. onwards. From 19:30 to 22:00, an action-packed evening awaits all tobogganing fans on the illuminated valley run of the Schlick 2000.

Fans of deep powder snow should not miss the first Freeride Testival on 11 and 12 February 2023 on the Stubai Glacier. 50 brands that are well known in the scene will present their new equipment. In addition to the brand new products, various side events such as workshops, courses, joint tours and safety trainings await the participants. Freeride professionals like Sandra Lahnsteiner and Roman Rohrmoser will also be on hand to give tips on how to behave off-piste. Anyone can take part, free registration has been possible since 01 November 2022 at www.freeride-testival.com.

The culinary heat is on - also in the Schlick 2000 ski area - on Sunday 12 March 2023. Ski & BBQ is an event format that has not often been seen before. The multiple German barbecue champion and barbecue world champion of 2013, Michael Hoffmann, and his team from GutGlut e.V. will provide special culinary delights at the Kreuzjoch panorama restaurant. In between, visitors can take their turns on the slopes or enjoy the sun and regional delicacies on the terrace with live music.
