The flow begins: First bike trail in Pitztal

Updated 25.05.2022

A must-do for families who love action: The hiking area in Jerzens is expanding its summer offer with the first mountain bike trail in Pitztal from June. On the Hochzeiger Family Trail, beginners and children can slowly get to grips with the flow of biking, while experienced bikers pedal hard and shred down the seven kilometres of curves, bends and waves. Bikes and cyclists can reach the starting point comfortably by gondola - special bike tickets make it possible. Along with the ZirbenPark and the ZirbenCarts, the trail complements the child-friendly and action-packed offer at Hochzeiger and is the first step towards biking adventure in Pitztal. www.hochzeiger.com, www.pitztal.com

"We are now offering a trail for mountain bikers for the first time, it is the only one so far in the entire Pitztal valley," says Thomas Fleischhacker, Managing Director of Hochzeiger Bergbahnen, and continues: "The Hochzeiger Family Trail is designed to be great fun for big and small bikers of all skill levels." With a longitudinal gradient of only three to eight per cent, children and beginners feel their way leisurely to the flow and automatically practise bike control, technique and balance. The course is peppered with curves, waves and bends, which, at the right speed, provide plenty of action even for the cracks.

The start of the seven-kilometre-long single trail, which is classified as blue, is at 2000 metres directly at the middle station of the Hochzeiger gondola lift. The first section winds gently along the "Hexenweg" to the Hochzeigerhaus. The trail continues through the fairytale-like stone pine forest - one of the most beautiful stands in Tyrol, by the way. If you need a break in between, make yourself comfortable at specially created time-out spots, take a deep breath and enjoy the fantastic view of the Pitztal mountains. When you arrive at the valley station, you will find the perfect infrastructure for your cycling experience with a bike washing area and bike rental. The Hochzeiger cable car takes holidaymakers up the mountain in less than 15 minutes and is easy on the muscles. Would you rather test the trail once or spend the whole day on two wheels? Thanks to different tariffs (single ride, 4-hour ticket and 1-day ticket), bikers are completely flexible when out and about. The blue trail is only the first step on two wheels for the Tyrolean Pitztal - from summer 2023, the bike offer is to be expanded with further single trails.

The hiking area at Hochzeiger scores with 100 kilometres of marked trails at four alpine altitude levels and is the ideal holiday destination, especially for families. Those who want to enjoy the pine with all their senses can visit the pine park at the Hochzeiger mid-station. It is a one-kilometre circular trail that is suitable for prams and offers exciting information about the "Queen of the Alps" as well as lots of fun and adventure: The adventure tower in the shape of a Swiss stone pine cone with a 16-metre-long tube slide, the Swiss stone pine jump into the fresh hay and the Swiss stone pine water with its shallow streams are at the top of the hit list, especially for the younger ones. The big brothers and sisters, on the other hand, try out the ZirbenCarts, with which you can whiz from the Sechszeiger through the Hochzeiger area. The Swiss stone pine is also always worth a culinary excursion: just stop by the Swiss stone pine bakery - and be sure to take a Swiss stone pine schnapps home with you.
