On 3 September 2022, e-bike world championship titles will once again be awarded in Ischgl. The largest e-bike race in the world will be held on two different courses in the "Everyman" and "Elite" classes. This year's participants include prominent names such as former professional footballer Walter Schachner and Olympic champion Benjamin Karl. Registrations are still possible until 2 September.
Last year, more than 600 participants took part in the third edition of the E-bike World Championships for Everyone. An incredible 104 world championship titles were awarded in the "Everyman" and "Elite" categories. The organisers have already received over 700 registrations for this year's event and promise a true racing spectacle. There will be two different courses. The 24-kilometre course of the "Everyman" category leads over 693 metres in altitude along wide paths with a fantastic panorama and impressive mountain scenery. The participants of the "Elite" category will be challenged on a 32-kilometre-long technically demanding course with steep climbs and spectacular single trails over 1,025 metres in altitude.
Prominence in the race field
The participants will use the remaining 46 days until the start of the race on 3 September to improve their own form or to hone their perfect riding technique. This includes well-known names such as football legend Walter Schachner and Olympic snowboarding champion Benjamin Karl, who will be hunting for medals at the E-Bike World Championships. "The anticipation for the next participation in the E-Bike World Championships for Everyone is already rising. I am also already busy training. Apart from the race, I am especially looking forward to the atmosphere off the track, where you always meet nice people and old acquaintances," says Walter Schachner. Benjamin Karl is also looking forward to an exciting competition: "It is definitely a new challenge, but one that I would like to take on this year. The course profile in Ischgl is demanding, but at the same time invites you to pedal hard. I am definitely looking forward to seeing how it goes and how I will perform in the end."
Colourful programme with musical and culinary highlights
Accompanying the racing spectacle, there will be a varied supporting programme with musical performances and regional culinary delights. For example, the band Matakustix invites its audience to the "sunny Sunseitn" of life and relies on its own created style, which it calls "alternative folk music". Folk songs in dialect are mixed with modern components. The Indian-born musician, songwriter and YouTube star Jacob Koopman will provide another inspiring act. MTB pro Tom Öhler will also be on site to thrill the audience with a special trick show. Food stalls with Paznaun delicacies and a pasta party will be on offer for the physical well-being on site.
