In one month, the 2nd International Hiking Week 25.-02.10.2022 will take place in the Karwendel Silver Region. Special programme highlights of the 2nd International Hiking Week are the opening concert of the BMK Weerberg on Sunday at the Schwannerwirt in Weerberg, the guided hikes on Monday in the unique natural scenery of the Karwendel Silver Region and the pleasure hike on Wednesday over the Lamsenjoch to the Eng Alm. On one or two of the hikes, participants are sure to meet local hero and TV presenter Harry Prünster.
The 2nd International Hiking Week packs the most beautiful sides of the Karwendel Silver Region into a week full of experiences. Young and old alike can join in when guided hikes to huts and alpine pastures are organised on the Hiking Theme Day (26.09.) . The Region theme day (27.09.) offers a look behind the scenes of businesses and companies in the Karwendel Silver Region. The following day, the Karwendelstock is tackled on a pleasure hike into the Eng (28.09.). In Europe's oldest alpine village, cows have been "summering" for generations. The 20-kilometre trail is suitable for good and enduring hikers.
On the theme day Ursprung (29.09.) farms open their doors. There are tastings and the opportunity to shop at farm shops. The History & Culture theme day (30.09.) turns back the clock to the late Middle Ages, when Schwaz was the largest mining town in Europe and the second largest town in the Habsburg Empire. On the Miners' Trail and in the silver mine, in Schwaz's old town and at Tratzberg Castle, the time of the "last knight" Emperor Maximilian and the Fugger trading family of Augsburg is omnipresent.
The final theme day, Water (01.10.), takes you to the sparkling places of the Karwendel Silver Region. The wild Wolfsklamm gorge, through which the Stanser Bach stream forces its way, is a real experience. A path with 354 steps and wooden bridges leads up through the gorge to the monastery of St. Georgenberg, the oldest place of pilgrimage in Tyrol and the original monastery of the Fiecht Benedictines. An evening hike to the reservoir, where the Weißenbläser play and the Kinderschuhplattler dance, brings an atmospheric end to a week full of inspiration in the Karwendel Silver Region.
The package with all admissions to the varied programme of the 2nd International Hiking Week is free of charge. Registration for the individual events and programme items can be made in the online shop of the Silver Region
