Winter holidaymakers can look forward to a special spectacle in the Tannheimer Tal high valley at the beginning of next year: From 8 to 28 January, the "International Balloon Festival" will once again take place, where everything revolves around the floating air giants. The absolute highlight of the event is the traditional "Balloon Glow" on the evenings of 10, 17 and 24 January.
Europe's most beautiful high valley is only a few kilometres from the German-Austrian border and its altitude of 1,100 metres guarantees a snowy winter holiday of the most beautiful kind. A variety of winter sports enrich the area - from skiing and snowboarding in six ski areas, gentle winter hiking on 81 kilometres or cross-country skiing on 140 kilometres of trails, to other activities such as ice skating, balloon or toboggan rides, everything is on offer.
From8 to 28 January, the "International Balloon Festival" makes a stay in the Tannheim Valley even more enjoyable, when hot-air balloons rise in all the villages to complement the magical panorama of the snow-covered mountains. Interested holidaymakers can of course also book a seat in the passenger basket and view the wintry valley from above - a view you won't forget in a hurry. The event is crowned by the traditional "Balloon Glow", which takes place on 10 January in Nesselwängle, on 17 January in Jungholz and on 24 January in Schattwald. The burners of the hot air balloons anchored to the ground are lit after dark. The glowing flying giants, which reflect in the winter-white landscape and make the surrounding snow glisten, are a sight guaranteed to make romantic hearts beat faster.
