From the Witches' Festival to the most spectacular sky race in Austria to the evening mountain railway ride, the news from the Wilder Kaiser ranges.
Everything is new in May! This is also true in the Wilder Kaiser region with its four villages Ellmau, Going, Scheffau and Söll. In each of the Kaiser towns there is a lot to experience in summer - a few highlights and news at a glance.
Söll
Evening summer mountain railway Guests in the Wilder Kaiser region have long appreciated the fact that the mountain railways of the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental operate not only in winter but also in summer, making the mountains accessible to everyone. As is well known, the largest night skiing area in Austria is located in the Kaiser village of Söll - so it's no wonder that this year for the first time there will also be evening mountain railway operation in summer! On Thursdays 14.7, 21.7, 4.8, 11.8, 18.8, 25.8 and 1.9, always from 18.30 to 22.30 - weather permitting! There are not only night hikes to experience, but also witch fires and much more..
"Hextakel" on 18-19 May in the Hexenwasser Hard to believe: the mountain adventure world Hexenwasser in Söll is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year! It goes without saying that the witches are going to let it rip on this occasion. The big "Hextakel" takes place on 18 and 19 June. Two days of fire shows, live music, witch dancing, witch flying school and much more. At the same time, the new "witchery" will be inaugurated. Scheffau
Kaiserkrone Trail The trail running season has long since opened on the Wilder Kaiser, and the first competition is already just around the corner in the Kaiser village of Scheffau! From 24-25 June 2022, the Kaiserkrone Trail will take place there, or rather over the peaks and around the Wilder Kaiser. Five different competitions offer the perfect challenge for every running level. Which one is the right one can be read on the Wilder Kaiser blog, as well as what the top athletes had to say about the last edition of the Kaiserkrone, for example about the "most spectacular sky race in Austria". Ellmau
VVT REGIORAD powered by EllmauIf youwant to reduce traffic in the villages, you have to offer your guests an easy and practical way to get from A to B. TheVVT REGIORADis the perfect way to do this. In the imperial town of Ellmau, 20 new "Regio Bikes" are now available for this purpose - making Ellmau the first small municipality, along with the two towns of Kufstein and Innsbruck, to offer such a service. The bikes can be rented at three locations in Ellmau (mountain railway, office of the tourism association in the town centre and Kaiserbad). They are primarily intended to be used to cover distances in the village that are just too far for a walk by bike instead of by car. For owners of a Wilder Kaiser guest, staff or citizen card, the first half hour of use is free of charge, the second half hour costs 2 euros and after that you pay 3 euros for each full hour and a maximum of 9 euros for 24 hours. Mountain doctor'ssurgery open on four daysYouwant to see mountain doctor Martin Gruber's surgery with your own eyes? No problem! From 17.5.2022, the original film set can be visited four days a week instead of two. You can visit it every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 09:30 to 12:00. Since filming is taking place there all summer, there may be changes to the opening hours - you can always find out about them on the website. Hotel of the Year 2022 in EllmauTheKaiser village of Ellmau is also very pleased to be home to Austria's "Hotel of the Year 2022", the Kaiserhof ! The Wilder Kaiser Tourism Association congratulates the Lampert family and the entire hotel team on this well-deserved award!
Going
Culinarypleasure hikeExperiencing culinarypleasure is very easy in the Wilder Kaiser region, as there are numerous restaurants, inns, farm shops, ice cream shops, cafés and much more to experience pure pleasure throughout the region. Region
Green Arrival A topic that is equally important in all four Kaiser towns is the reduction of private transport. The Wilder Kaiser Tourism Association has been making great efforts to achieve this for years. In addition to the already established and well-used local services such as the KaiserJet (which connects the four Kaiser resorts free of charge every 30 minutes) and hiking buses, there are further initiatives in the area of environmentally friendly mobility just in time for the start of summer: the latest offers range from the free shuttle from the railway station to the accommodation to free cycling services and the new Ruf taxi for hiking.
