Tulfes - On Austria's new 1st via ferrata of legends on the Glungezer, the view of more than 400 Alpine peaks opens up, while at the same time you immerse yourself in the magical world of legends and fairytales in the mountains.
The Alpine Club Hall in Tyrol renovated the previous via ferrata on the Glungezer on the existing route and extended it considerably. Different levels of difficulty were included in the boulder terrain - from easy ("Category A") to difficult ("Category C"), all requirements, such as short and long steep climbs, ridge intersections and a chimney passage are included. A folder telling the legend of the Glungezer giant is available for children. The highlight of the via ferrata is a rope bridge with a posted photo point for breathtaking views of the Karwendel mountains opposite.
The via ferrata starts above the Zirbensee lake on the Glungezer. A total ascent time of 2.5 hours is required for the 400 metres in altitude. 10 minutes from the exit is the Glungezerhütte at 2,610 metres above sea level, which invites you to stop, relax and enjoy the view of the impressive mountain scenery.
