The countdown for the International Hiking Week and the World Hiking Championships powered by Hervis Sports (18.-26.09.2021) is on. The idea for the World Hiking Championships, which originated in 2002, enjoys great popularity and so it is not surprising that many clubs and groups are always happy to take part in the event. What counts for the Austrian Volkssportverband is the community. This motto is put into practice at the World Hiking Championships, as the focus is not on speed but on the kilometres hiked together. Each hiker has enough time to look around in the unique natural scenery of the Karwendel Silver Region
Special programme highlights of the international hiking week include the twilight pint on Sunday at the Pelikan in Vomp, the lecture by mountaineering legend Peter Habeler on Monday at the Centrum Weerberg or the fan hike with Harry Prünster on Wednesday. The package with all admissions to the varied programme of the International Hiking Week is available in the form of a VIP wristband. This is available for 30 euros in the Tourism Association's online shop
There is also a special Tyrolean offer for regional associations and groups. The first 10 registered groups of at least 10 people receive the entry fee free of charge. This will be paid by the Karwendel Silver Region Tourist Association. Registrations can be made via the Austrian Volkssport-Verband: info@oevv-wandern.at or at: www.oevv-wandern.at. The registration deadline is 19 September 2021.
The supporting programme of the International Hiking Week will be even richer by two items. The 2nd Tyrolean Honey Days (24-25 September) and the Almabtrieb in Schwaz (24 September) will take place on the World Hiking Championships weekend. So after the hike, on the one hand you can take a trip into the world of bees and bee products, and on the other admire the traditional march of the animals into town.
