Das sind die Gewinner*innen vom Kaiserkrone Trail 2021

Updated 27.06.2021

On Saturday, 26 June 2021, the Kaiserkrone Trail took place in Scheffau am Wilden Kaiser. 388 runners from 17 countries were at the start and ran for the best time on the Wilder Kaiser.

In total, four different competitions were held at the Kaiserkrone Trail: the Skyrace (24.7 kilometres/2730 metres in altitude), the Marathon Trail (56 kilometres/3810 metres in altitude), the Speed Trail (20.4 kilometres/1430 metres in altitude) and the Easy Trail (14 kilometres/490 metres in altitude). In perfect conditions, a total of 388 runners from 17 countries were at the start. And while for many ambitious hobby runners the motto was "taking part is everything", the top athletes at the top fought for the best time in their respective disciplines. For example, in the technically very demanding Skyrace, where the Austrian Skyrunning Championships were held. The competition was not only part of the Skyrunner Austria Series, but also part of the Skyrunner World Series 2021, which means that the Skyrace finishers take valuable points for the overall ranking with them from the Wilder Kaiser. The same applies to the Marathon Trail: 3 ITRA points and 3 UTMB points were up for grabs.

Comments on the race

But not only for the winners, but also for the organisers the Kaiserkrone Trail 2021 was a complete success. Organiser Thomas Bosnjak sums up with satisfaction: "The Wilder Kaiser demanded everything from the Skyrace participants. This could be seen in the many abrasions - but above all the grinning faces afterwards confirm the toughness and attractiveness of the Skyrace course. I was very pleased that so many participants decided to take part in the wild ride over and around the Wilder Kaiser. I would like to thank everyone for coming and say a big thank you to the 100 helpers, landowners, tenants, hunters and everyone else who made the event possible. We are looking forward to seeing you again on 24 and 25 June 2022 in Scheffau

Scheffau's tourism manager, Marcus Sappl, is also enthusiastic about the runners' achievements: "I myself come from climbing and mountaineering - and would not have thought the times that were partly achieved on my 'home peaks' possible. I am really happy that we in Scheffau are hosting such a great running event and congratulate all the participants on their personal success on the Wilder Kaiser

Thanks to the supporters

And because the results of the runners would never be possible without the enormous organisational effort in the background, the organisers would like to thank the numerous helpers in particular. From culinary supplies for the runners to course markings, refreshment stations, safety tasks and so on, there was support from the region. Among them were the Scheffau rural youth, the Söllandl running club, the Scheffau mountain rescue service, the fire brigade, the Red Cross and numerous other committed helpers from Scheffau and the surrounding area. And to give you an approximate impression of the overall organisational performance, here are a few figures to round things off.
